Instead of rankings, since it's still really too early for meaningful rankings just yet. I'll simply do a stock up/down report.

Stock Up

Creighton
Villanova
Xavier
Providence
Butler

Stock Down

Georgetown
St. John's
Marquette

Stock Neutral

DePaul
Seton Hall
Villanova

I don't know for Creighton if I'd even say stock up. They are who we thought they were(going Dennis Green on you). To me, they're stock neutral- that can be for good or bad teams in my mind.

The thing I see- 3 teams in stock down are probably 3 of the 4-5 most important teams in the conference.

I wonder with days like today if these 8 team bracketed tournament days are numbered. I mean, for Puerto Rico, this is a disaster.

I think we'll see more tournaments like what DePaul and Seton Hall are in- where 1st 2 rounds are home, and then sf matchups preset no matter what happens 1st 2 games.

Are you kidding? With DMcD going for 37 & hitting that game winner, and the play of Brooks/Wragge, plus they are finally ranked... how can their stock not be up?

They played 2 tomato cans in Alcorn St and UMKC- Alcorn St is 3-1 but with 3 D2 or lower wins, and UMKC is 1-3 with a D2 loss. So not exactly scintillating competition at all. What the heck were you expecting in those 3 games? I'd just say they've met expectations so far.

Everything we both said is true, but I chose to focus on the more optimistic things I see. Seems like you forget any team can loose to another team so winning does matter, even when you're the favorite.

Obviously winning matters, but when you get to a certain level(where especially Alcorn St and UMKC were)- if you don't win- it's a catastrophic type of loss. 10 times worse than the Hoya's loss today.

Yeah, I guess I could agree with the Creighton stock neutral position(in a good way). The Dennis Green quote does fit, and sort of got a chuckle out of it.

BTW, I cruise around and lurk on most BE school sites, and if you go to either the Xavier or Butler sites you would see a whole lot of ragging and mocking of the BE. Way overrated being the main rallying cry, the way some are talking you'd think those schools had just entered the MAAC or something. Musketeer fans have already broken out their cute little "flagship" smack.

Why are you talking about them losing, they didn't. Using a hypothetical to make your point is weak. I'm saying their stock is up because of HOW they played, who played well for them, and how they are being viewed by the voters. All of those are positive with more than a majority of people. To say you expected them to win is to miss the fact that when Doug was piling up the points it blew up twitter. I guess when he got some of the attention back from those freshmen that seemed to go unnoticed by you. When Marcus Smart did the same thing the other day going for 39 that was awesome pub for Oak St., who cares who they played their stock is up. There's more to stock being up or down than vegas odds & computer rankings.
