VCU vs UVA

It is interesting to me that supporters of VCU joining the conference seem to feel that they need to incessantly show why they belong. Meanwhile, although there is some merit-slinging, Richmond and SLU fans are quieter. Maybe there is a point to the fact that these two fan bases don’t seem like they need to validate their potential inclusion every time there is a possible avenue to do so.

Just a follow-up thought. VCU fans are constantly showing why we belong because there are opinions out there saying we *don't* belong because we aren't private or catholic. (Case in point) What does private or catholic have *anything* to do with basketball skill-set?

Every time it comes up, we have the same people making the same arguments. We get it. We've heard every single argument for each school dozens of times. Do any of you really think you are saying anything new?

I am getting close to lobbying for a special forum just for expansion talk. Then at least it won't come up on the main board all the time.

Honestly, each post I see lobbying for a particular team makes me want that team less.

I get your point, but with the alternatives that are out there, fans are going to "lobby" for inclusion in a very good league.

I'm not lobbying as much as I used to for SLU for the reasons you stated (it gets old and there aren't many good arguments out there).

Frankly, I'm with Bluejay. If there was a "foe" function where we could block posts advocating addition to the BE, I'd be all in.

edit* In fact your posts are searchable, and you lobbied pretty hard for Creighton when they were being considered. So can't get mad at the outsiders looking in now that you're an insider.

edit* In fact your posts are searchable, and you lobbied pretty hard for Creighton when they were being considered. So can't get mad at the outsiders looking in now that you're an insider.

The difference is that we all knew that the league would be adding teams at that time. Now it has been made quite clear that the BE won't be expanding anytime soon, if at all.

Plus, as stated above, you've already made the same arguments dozens and dozens of times. We've heard them....multiple times. You aren't breaking any new ground.

As a UD fan, I think that the best-case scenario is that it goes one East and one West. Dayton is far ahead of SLU in the West, and VCU should be leading the East.

It is widely believed SLU is an automatic 11th school should the Big East expand.

2) I didn't make ANY arguments in this thread about expansion. I REPLIED to someone s#!t talking on my school by simply stating we are a passionate bunch. I didn't write a paper on why (once again) that we should be included in your conference.

3) "...the fact that you assumed that it did speaks volumes". You mean it was a stretch for me to assume you were talking about VCU as an expansion candidate in a thread titled "VCU vs UVA".

If you really hated expansion threads you'd stop contributing to them...but you don't. When Creighton wasn't in the Big East it was cool to talk about them as an expansion candidate, but now that they are IN and other teams are being talked about getting in, you want to act annoyed by everyone who is doing the same thing you were once doing. Way to go.
