Man, Xavier should have won by a lot more. Great win for the conference but I can't believe the decisions and free throw shooting in the last five minutes. A win is a win.

Not pretty, but it's a win and X is 2-0.

I'm happy with the defensive effort tonight with Xavier playing without 2 starters and a dinged up Myles Davis, who hit some clutch FT's down the stretch.

Next three games shouldn't be nail biters, and then it's off to the Battle for Atlantis and a 1st round match up with Iowa.

Really pumped about this win.

Landen Amos, walk-on who gets occasional minutes at the 2/3 as a defensive stopper tore his MCL and is out another 4 - 5 weeks
Myles Davis apparently tweaked his surgically repaired knee early against Gardner-Webb and didn't return

Mack has kept extremely quiet to keep Tennessee guessing and closed practice yesterday but I think the only one that MIGHT play would be Myles. The potential concussion cases with Martin and Dee are worrisome as they each had concussions last year as well.

Luckily the interior depth should still be there but going to need big games from Semaj and Randolph, and most importantly no hand checks or foul trouble from them.

You guys might want to consider dropping the boxing portion of your practices. I know it's a great overall fitness tool, but if your guys are getting concussions they are going too hard :D (sorry, couldn't resist).

marquette, that's too funny. Dayton used to do that when Brian Gregory coached there. Those idiots were worth a laugh a minute as they reveled in their success from the 60's.

At any rate, let's keep in mind that this was the second game of the season and that at various points in the game we had three first year players on the court. I believe I also read where UT was picked as the third best team in the SEC. I know that SEC basketball isn't the same as SEC football, but UT should get much stronger as the year moves forward. We may see them again in Atlantis.

The missed bunnies were torture, but not as much as the adventures at the charity stripe. Like all good programs everywhere, X will improve on execution moving forward, especially as these guys gel and learn to play together. I can only hope that Chris springs early for a sports psychologist to help fix the FT performance.

As has been pointed out here: we won; we move on with a "W."

Good luck to everyone and let's keep the BE OOC success moving forward.

Congrats on the victory Xavier. CBS has Tennessee finishing 3rd in the SEC this year (behind Kentucky and Florida)

Tennessee is ranked #27 in both polls. This win is huge.

Congratulations to Xavier! Those guys really stepped up to the challenge.

#11 Florida went down to the #4 team in the B1G last night, while #1 Kentucky lost to #2 Michigan State. Another overrated season for the SEC?
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Ugly ballgame that would have been uglier had X lost. Let's not forget Xavier was picked to finish in the lower half of the Big East. That being said, this team is far from a finished product, and has a high ceiling. Go X!

From the coach:

"@CoachChrisMack: I'll put Xavier's student section up against any in America. 10250 were rocking and we thank you! #XavierNation. See you Friday!"

Great job & stopping stokes, that was no small task. Saw that guy absolutely destroy Uconn in his 3rd game as a freshman after sitting out the 1st semester that year.
