Georgetown vs. #19 Oregon

Smith with a monster game, lost opportunity. Big East did what it was suppose to do today, no major surprises but it would have been nice for Georgetown or St. John's to win.

Georgetown was favored in Vegas FWIW. If you'd have told me they would get what they did out of Josh Smith and the Ducks would be without key personnel due to suspensions, I'd have bet the mortgage on the Hoyas. Lost opportunity is exactly right.

The line I had seen was Oregon by 4. We did the bare minimum today- with the Providence win. Loss there and tonight would have been pretty bad.

Thankfully we didn't get a bad loss from Marquette vs Southern.

After seeing one game, it's hard to imagine Smith not contending for some type of all league awards if he can keep it up.

I didn't see the game, but from the stats Josh Smith looks like the real deal. The fact that the game was a foul fest (74 free throws) probably allowed Josh some extra rest which he might not get in a more free flowing game.
Outside of him and Starks, this roster doesn't look that great to me. There is some potential with Hopkins (moving him to his natural position at PF). The other guys have issues (good scorer/bad defender) or vice versa.

Mr. Marsh, you have very high standards. Anyone who "expected" St John's, a young-raw squad, to beat a Bo Ryan coached more veteran squad in the first game of the season was asking for a lot of Big East mojo last night. Personally, more was expected out of Georgetown and Providence played extremely well against a solid team. We definitely need to win some of the tougher games but expecting the Big East to go 7-0 last night was absurd.

What is wrong with you? I was the one who was optimistic about last night. You call that being negative???

I'm the one who's not willing to accept mediocrity from conference members who lose games they should win. You call that being negative???

When you root for a team or a conference, aren't you disappointed with a sub par outcome? Do you want me to accept this kind of result from a very talented St. John's team with everybody back, a team that should be ready to step it up?

I'm not down on the Big East. I am rooting for them and have high expectations for them. Apparently you don't.

It's extremely baffling to me why you repeatedly want to make personal attacks and turn the conversation away from the topic at hand and make it about the poster. Others here have noticed the same thing about you. Someone who repeatedly wants to pick fights with perfect strangers must have issues. Knock it off and join in the conversation.
