It could be worse, you could be in the Horizon League.

Well, winning the A-10 didn't do much...so maybe we try another one? That's a lot of the reason I'm so hard on the A-10.

Winning the conference one time? Butler, Xavier, and Creighton have done infinitely more than SLU over the last 10 years..... Butler had as many NCAA wins in 1 of their tourney final runs as SLU has ever had. SLU has had 2 NCAA spots in the last 12 years. That's it.

I think SLU will get into the BE, but a lot will hinge on when the conference can agree on #12. I think there's a wide difference of agreement between Dayton, Richmond, and VCU.

I don't like the A-10, you do.

I think we're both in agreement that we like the Big East though.
Big East Basketball is what it's always been. Great competition nightly.
If the Atlantic 10 didn't suck, why is everyone looking for the exits?
There is a reason why the A-10 left a team in the Central Time Zone...SLU, your move.

OK - tonight we get down to the ORIGINAL purpose of this thread - to simply track our progress against the other big boy leagues. On deck, the Providence College Friars welcome former Big East Conference rival and current ACC member the Boston College Eagles to the Dunk for a New England hoops battle. It is also the first Big East game to be broadcast on Fox Sports 1. Half way around the world, The Georgetown University Hoyas will don their camouflage unis for our troops in South Korea when they take on The University of Oregon Ducks of the Pac-12 Conference. That game will be on ESPN. Finally, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, The St. John's Red Storm will take on the University of Wisconsin Badgers in an arena called The Pentagon. It is the first game to be played in this facility which holds just over 3,000. That game can be seen on the Big Ten Network (Sorry New Yorkers)Should be interesting. Good luck to all in the Big East as we kick off what is likely to be the most important season for the league since the early 80's.

I don't worry about UConn any longer. They are stuck in that crap conference. You guys need to go to theboneyard.com and read their stuff-I can't believe Dayton fans are worse than these posters.

I don't think any conference with 3 top 25 teams and potentially a 4th tourney team in Temple- is a crap conference-esp when they have only 10 teams. It's 4th in Ken Pom....

The top of the American is loaded this year. Remember, stever argued that the A-10 was good too.

So does that mean I agree with something he said?

After this season the AAC will be losing UofL and it' only presence in the ny/nj metro in RU. They'll replace them with teams like Tulane & E. Carolina..long term the AAC is a crap league and at the moment uconn is stuck there.

Even w/o Louisville, the conference has averaged 3.4 bids per year the last 5 years. 3.6 if you give UConn a bid last year. For an 11 team conference- that's not bad. Memphis, UConn, Cincy, Temple aren't going anywhere- and SMU Larry Brown is building something(it'll be interesting to see who replaces him). UCF is a sleeper in there long term- I could see them building something rapidly.

I remember all those arguments from when it looked like we weren't going to split. Most I agreed with at the time. But there's something to be said for a league that doesn't really want to be together. How many AAC titles do you think Larry Brown cares about winning or Kevin Ollie, or Nick Cronin or Josh Pastner, etc. That's why I call it a crap conference, no energy & not much $$.
