Anyone know if Big Ten Network is included in basic Cablevis

Cablevision on LI? I don't see it being streamed anywhere either, so I guess I just can't watch it if I don't get BTN? IMO it's stupid to have the huge SJ vs. Wisc. game on a network where many people in the NYC metro area don't even get it and need to pay extra. Why not have it on FS1 or CBS?

That is the point (from the BIG network). They want you calling up your cable network to get it added. I believe its on regular cable except for many cable companies in the NE

Right, but they realize some of the biggest markets are in the Northeast right? Boston, NYC, Philly (on the edge). It's a huge matchup that many will miss unfortunately. Seems like a sure thing for CBS but the big football school just had to have it on their own network that not many up here get :x

That's why they added Rutgers, the idea being that they will bring the NY/NJ market into the fold. I get B10 network on basic cable, not that I really care, because I'm in Wisconsin (the heart of B10 territory). The point is to get it in every household possible. More households=more money for those football schools. If you want to watch it I bet you can find a stream on firstrowsports.eu. That's where I go whenever I want to stream something.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

The funny part is that Rutgers is as relevant in the NYC market as a rat on the subway tracks. In other words, not at all. No one cares about Rutgers except the alumni. At least when SJU performs well they get tons of attention and hype. I remember SJ was on PTI being discussed in 2011 as a possible Elite 8 team. When we are good the attention is there. For Rutgers they get some attention when they are good (rarely), but not like we get when successful. We are the only true major hoops NYC team. Rutgers is Jersey and though it's close, there is a distinction just like with Seton Hall. Jersey might as well be another world for people in Brooklyn/Queens/LI. Taking 2 bridges to get there sitting in traffic, and just the culture is different. That's why I always laugh when people suggest Rutgers is a significant part of the NYC media.

Nope, the Big Ten network is not part of Cablevision's basic plan on Long Island or in NYC. Also not part of Time Warner in New York City.

You know that, and I know that, but the B1G seems to think differently. To be fair to them, they have certain academic requirements when adding schools and Rutgers was the only AAU school in the New York area that also had football.

probably a lot of St John's fans will have to go to the bars to watch the game on Friday(errr... TOMORROW) night.

It's not surprising at all that BTN would have it. At least we have 2 big games other places...

It's just a little weird to me that this game won't be on national TV on basic cable plans. It's as intriguing a matchup as there can be in college basketball for the first game of the season. One team ranked #21 and the Johnnies with all the hype just outside the top 25 ish area. If Wisconsin loses, they are likely dropped from the rankings and SJ enters the top 25. It has all the makings of a national game. Finesse and skill (Wisconsin) vs. athleticism and massive talent (SJ). As others have said, I think this game will give us a better picture of whether Coach Lavin is just a great recruiter or not. It's really fun to get all these top 100 4 and 5 star players, but if it doesn't translate to wins then who cares? The biggest part of this for SJ is that winning against the Badgers means we have a realistic shot of being undefeated going into December's matchup with Cuse. If that were to happen, SJ would likely be a top 15 team in the rankings when facing them. We are so overdue for something like this to happen...I truly hope it will. I just think that Wisconsin's outcome has the possibility of deciding whether or not we play in March if we are on the bubble. It's a nice resume win, but if we don't win it, people will assume we are just another hyped squad full of talent but zero chemistry or basketball IQ.

I`m in Queens and got TimeWarner. B10N is packaged with espnclassic, nhl.com, p12n, nflredzone among others and it`s only $8.99 per month. So I`d keep it for a month and watch alot of those channels as well.
The cost won`t break me but since the only reason i`d be getting is for the SJU vs. Wisconsin game, if they lose I`ll be pissed lol.

Other option? A bunch of REDMEN fans are meeting up in NYC, but I`m hesitant to go since I don`t drink anymore. What am I gonna do, sip on soda while everyone else is feeling nice? lol Most likely I`ll just get it and watch it here.

SJU. Vs. Wisc, G-Town Vs. Oregon, BC @ Providence. Lets launch this league correctly and go 3-0 baby. The time has come.
I`m off the hook pumped.
