No doubt, they've had a tough run here trying to find a group with whom they fit. It just seems like the fans here in CO follow rather than demand/drive basketball success.

Yeah I would agree with that analysis I think that it is not a state with a history of basketball. I think as far as groups an Ideal fit would be the MW but they don't seem interested in a non-football school. I think after a ncaa appearance this year the MVC, WCC, or A10 all seem like possibilities. Its definitely a program with upward momentum but its by no means moving at that fast of a pace. One of my favorite parts about Denver basketball is one of their sponsors is the Colorado State Alumni are one of their sponsors.

if I had to guess, knowing a few DU alums, the WCC would be too parochial, the MVC below them, and if the A-10 would work, why not the BE? There just aren't that many schools that fit their profile anywhere close.

As a long time DU fan i can solidly say that the MVC is certainly not below them. They would be a bottom A10 team for sure. And parochial shouldn't be an issue for a school who's real name is Colorado Seminary

I honestly don't like the challenges for us. I don't think we'd get ACC or Big Ten- and none of the others really are all that appealing to me. SEC finagled their way out of good matchups and the Pac 12 I'm sorry. They had 4 losing teams and 2 others that were within 2-4 games of .500 last year. Also the location factor.

I just think some of these A10/MWC games for us are huge:
Creighton @ St Joe's
Marquette vs New Mexico
both Villanova games

like I think for Marquette the New Mexico game is much more important than the Arizona St game is. Not even close.

sorry, that's a copout, or perhaps why you don't understand the point of this argument. Just as the pre 2013 BE would have, and did, sign up for a challenge against the SEC, the BE today would do the same. We never did an A-10 challenge or CUSA challenge back in the day. That's not to take away from the top programs in those leagues in years past or of their equivalents today (A-10 again, AAC, MWC); we're just at a different level.

Yeah, again I agree. There is zero argument for anyone outside the football leagues and the Big East.

That's why the gentleman is tracking those leagues. Big East gains nothing from beating the A-10 or the MWC.

The way I see the Big East is like this:

We lost our top 10 caliber juggernauts i.e. Cuse, L'Ville, UConn, Pitt, etc. But we may have a lot of 15-25 ranked teams. Creighton can easily be in that range, G'Town will definitely be, Marquette will definitely be, Nova almost certainly will, Providence has a chance, SJ has a chance, Xavier has a chance, etc. etc. So while we lost our powerhouses, we still have very good teams. It's a testament to how stacked the old Big East was. This league will be fine. I expect 4-5 ranked teams each year. If you hear anyone saying the Big East is a mid major, just laugh at them because they have no idea what they are talking about.

Umm quite frankly I'd rather have Kentucky and Florida in our league over any team in this conference... including my own. And recently Vanderbilt was killing it till last year, and Bama hasn't been terrible either. Tennessee will likely be very good this year also. I'd say the SEC is just fine. In the Pac 12 that's a different story I'll admit.

Georgetown is one of 4 teams to reach the top 10 of the Polls every year for the last 7 years. Just saying. (Kansas, Duke, and UNC are the only others)
