Definitely a two day trip then! I can do 12-14 hours in a day easy but 21 would be pushing it for sure. Thanks for the info! 8-)

Gas prices have to make flying cheaper, right?

That would depend on how many people were going actually (there would probably be 3-4 of us going). I'm also a road warrior and absolutely love road trips. Getting there is half the fun and the road is where a lot of good memories are usually made. I certainly wouldn't rule out flying though and it is good to know that there is a direct flight from Newark to Omaha. Still, flying to me is just a royal PITA. When you drive you are on your time and unlike the airlines, I do not have a limit on what size shampoo you want to pack and I do not make you take your shoes off before getting in. LOL!

I'm very impressed with your attendance figures. I did however notice the 9 out of the last 10 highest attended games were during Doug McDermott's Sophmore & Junior campaigns. When he leaves after this season will this high attendance figure sustain?? What is the average attendance for the last ten years etc??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CenturyLink_Center_Omaha

While the per-game highs are heavily weighted to the last two years, huge attendance numbers are not a new phenomenon or unique to Doug McDermott's reign. CU has finished in the Top 25 nationally in attendance each of the last seven years, and has averaged over 15,000 every year but one since 2006 (in 2010-11, they dipped slightly to 13,507). The full attendance records are on page 120 of the media guide.

Also worth noting about the per-game highs: CenturyLink Center added about 2500 seats in an expansion in 2006. That's the biggest reason all of the highest-attended games are in the last few years -- there's more seats to sell now than at any time in CU's history.

I think we have our answer to who the big winner is by joining the Big East. Way to go.

Also, the year that our average was down, we have like 3 home games for the CIT which did not draw well, bringing down our average.

The easy sentiment is that we are good because of Doug and therefore our attendance is high, but in reality we have been good for 20 years. The names all change, but we continue to win, and I expect that to continue in the BigEast.

There is no question that aside from their success, Creighton was picked to join partially due to their fantastic fan support and top attendance. I predict, if it isn't already, Creighton will be sold out wire to wire for the conference schedule.

A rep from the ticket office stated that when CU gets down to 1000-1200 seats prior to game day, the folks in the office feel like there is a very good chance it'll sell out. The same article said there aren't more than 900 seats left for any game on the whole slate, including Fridays exhibition game against a D2 team, which they think could sell out too.

I'm sure the board is tired of hearing about it but I figured I'd relay that.

Some of you here and on other boards, some Marquette fans for example, were asking about tickets for individual games. The CU Athletic Department was quoted today in the Omaha paper that CU will be opening up sales of Standing Room Only tickets on each game day as well. Some of the options being considered have been StubHub, CraigsList, scalpers, etc. This standing room only option can be added to your list. There is a nice open concourse area that is plenty close to the beer and you have a good view of the floor and the scoreboards.

So even with the sellouts, your chances may be decent. I know there were several Marquette fans wanting to make the Dec. 31 trip but the sellout thing is taking a little wind out of their sails. PM me or probably any other local here in Omaha. We'll do what we can to try to help out. Personally I work just a couple blocks from the arena ticket office and if we learn that standing room only tickets go on sale at 10 am game day for example, I will go over and try to get tickets for you if you PM me. That way you may not have to rely on scalpers game night. I mean what are Big East brethren for, right?

I was holding out serious hopes that I can make the Jan. 18, Providence / Creighton game in Providence. Budget is looking a little more iffier everyday right now. So I may not know if I can swing it right up until a week or two ahead of time. I don't know if Providence sells outWho knows, I may need to ask some of you for a favor too. If not this year, certainly in the years to come.

Per the OWH as of 10/31 am:

Two more Creighton home games sold out Wednesday, while the number of tickets the school has sold for the Big East tournament rose to 1,456.

No tickets remain for games Jan. 12 against Xavier and March 8 against Providence. The Bluejays have sold out nine of their 17 home games since single-game tickets went on sale Tuesday.

Actually, there are 103 tix left for XU@CU right now on Ticketmaster.

If any Marquette fans are looking for MU@CU tix on the secondary market, I recommend checking out Ticket Express in Omaha, a local broker accredited by the BBB that's been in business for 21 years and has a storefront. They typically do not list tickets for sale on their website until about a month before the event. You can always call them before then, if you want them now, but the owner said he expects prices to "settle downward" so I'd recommend waiting a few weeks. You can pick them up locally and avoid outrageous StubHub fees. Note: I'm not affiliated with them or any other ticket broker. Am just an occasional customer.
"When you lose a program like Creighton, there's no sugarcoating it," Valley Commissioner Doug Elgin said. "It's a devastating loss. They're going to go on and have success in the league they've joined." Yahoo Sports, October 10, 2013.

I'm quickly starting to get tired of the attitude surrounding Creighton (maybe i'm just jealous of all the positives coming out of Omaha!) but that's pretty damn impressive. Especially considering Hinkle only seats 10,000 and they're cramming in 15,000 for an exhibition.

For comparisons sake, Butler's exhibition the other day drew a bit over 5,000 i believe.
