PC pulls 2015 6'7" Shooter Ryan Fazekas out of Indiana

@KevinMcNamara33 3m
Providence grabs 1'st 2015 verbal from Indiana shooter Ryan Fazekas @FazekasRyan

He did not play AAU ball last year because of a broken nose, so none of the recruiting services know anything about him

Thanks Hall for the help

Congrats on getting what seems to be a pure shooter to compliment those dynamic wing players & that big front line that Cooley has put together. FYI, Cooley offered Fazekas in the Spring so he was well aware of his ability before the summer circuit even got started, great recruiting....Uconn is in trouble lol.

The Big East where ballers want to go!

You know you have made it on the recruiting trail when recruits who they have not seen get upgraded when they sign with a particular school. Scout and via Brian Snow just let us know that they will have him rated as a 3 star by the end of the day.

Ten years before Ed Cooley and he would have been downgraded by choosing us.

Too lazy to do my own research, any relation to former Nevada star Nick Fazekas?

I don't think so, Nick was from Colorado I believe.

After taking visits to Indiana, Xavier, Butler, Michigan, Michigan St. and Purdue this is what Ryan had to say.

"Ryan liked the atmosphere and the excitement around the program," said Fazekas' father, Bill. "His visit last weekend was actually a birthday present for him. He came back and told us `this is where I want to be' so we're excited about his decision."

What Ed Cooley has done to the perception of this program in just 2 years is hard for me to get my head around.

No prob J...I like this vid & the write up too. It's from Feb 2013:

"Ryan Fazekas of Marquette Catholic a 6'8 solid guard if i may say so myself. Class 2015. Fazekas has some D-1 potential with alot of time to improve. When someone says "The sky is the limit" well this could be a motto or slogan for Fazekas because this young man has talent. Fazekas who has great height and the capability to shoot out the gym. The games i caught of Marquettes Fazekas displayed great decision making, good defense, and his ability to get up and down the floor for his height. I mean how many 6'8 players you seen running up and down the floor like Fazekas. If one was to scout Fazekas i would say you get a player who has a pure shot, someone who will play both ends of the floor, and a player whos hungry to learn. Fazekas was ranked top 10 Class 2015 in the state of Indiana. Ranked top 10 players in the "Region". The games you see here are games against Bishop Noll (ranked top ten in the class 2A in the state of Indiana), calumet high school, Gary Lew Wallace, and Edison high school. "

Well I was wrong ESPN made him a 4 star :D

ESPN on Ryan Fazekas, whom they have as a 4 Star Recruit:
Updated 10/29/2013
Stretch:
Fazekas is a high level shot-maker who specializes in his ability to stretch opposing defenses well beyond the three-point arc. He's a catch-and-shoot specialist who forces opposing defenders to run at him on every perimeter touch and has a catch and rip game to expose poor close-outs. Fazekas has a high and compact release on his jumper and can also score over top of smaller defenders inside the lane with a little bit of a floater, that he can utilize both off the dribble or from the mid to high post. He's also got excellent hands, that both help him come up with clean catches on inaccurate passes and are even an asset on the offensive glass.
Weaknesses:
He's a perimeter forward, but a little bit of a 'tweener between being a face-up four-man or true wing. This is most apparent on the defensive end where he has yet to establish a true position for himself. He's also not much of a threat to create his own shot. Beyond that, his first order of business needs to be a strength and conditioning program which should help give him the physical tools necessary to become a more consistent finisher against contact.
Bottom Line:
He's a complimentary guy in a league like the Big East, but a valuable one at that, because he'll be able to provide the type of shot-making presence necessary to establish proper spacing in a half-court set.

From 247 boss Jerry Meyer:

"Respected scout @NDkendrick sees some Robbie Hummell n Providence commitment Ryan Fazekas. Not a defender yet, but skilled and some upside."
