No idea what your point is... That Marq fans should be more humble because you think PC will soon experience the same kind of success ( hopefully) that Marq has for the past 15 years? And that you predict FF's for PC while Marq ghas only made the E8? Did I get that right?

And what might that pecking order be? Also, who is puffing their chest. I'm pretty sure most of the posts throughout this site have just been stating facts.

Again, the issue is what Marquette has done for the Big East.

Marquette should be justifiably proud of the NC, but that didn't do anything for the Big East. And it may have been "about the same time" as some of PC's high points in the '70's, but PC's reputation, based on it's high points in the '60's and '70's, helped to establish the conference's instant credibility while Marquette's high points in that era did nothing for the Big East. And PC's high points in the '80's and '90's helped to sustain the conference's prominence - something which Marquette has only done recently.

No. If you're going to say that prov in the 70s helped the conference before it was born then marquette in 2003 helped just as much for providing credibility for this current conference. I won't argue about the NC of ours because it was a long time ago and really outside of making three teams to brag about national championships it does nothing for the BE.

There is a difference, MU. When the Big East was founded in 1979, it had no history (obviously), so the credentials of the individual members were critical for giving it some initial stature before it proved itself in actual competition. Because PC had been an Eastern power for 2 decades, they were one of the key founding franchises. In contrast, programs like Seton Hall, UConn, BC, and even Georgetown did not being that same track record of recent success.

When Marquette joined in 2005, the Big East was already an established powerhouse of a conference, coming off 2 national championships in the previous 3 years. Although the addition of the new members did give the league's profile a boost to an even higher level, which was nice, it was nothing that the league needed even in the slightest. Its needs for credibility were focused on football, not basketball.

official pecking order is tier based.
1) Georgetown, Nova, and Marquette
2) St Johns, Prov, SH, Creighton, Butler, and X
3) DePaul

btw, UConn will be tier 1 when they join. They are the only tier 1 target available.

add UConn.

Not a UConn fan... But a Big East fan, and I want the best conference possible.

- add UConn. 11 teams. 20 games.
- create a western scheduling agreement. Doesn't have to be the whole WCC, but maybe the top 3 or 4 of their program barn storm some of our venues for a few years.
The win-win is better OOC schedules, broader national exposure for all programs involved, no whiners about recruiting territory infringement, etc...
- Set up a 4 year series of conference challenges - diff conf each year... ACC, B1G, SEC, and PAC.

Please Stop!!!! Are we really saying add U Conn? Man talk about a short memory... U Conn will decline for the foreseeable future PC, SJ, SH and others are now the choice of top Northeast recruits and will continue to be by all accounts. Before joining the Big East U Conn was nothing in college basketball and thats where they will return!

UConn can join when they move back to D-1AA football.

1 team with FB is nothing to fear. The sky won't fall.

Our mission should be to have the best regional basketball conference that we can build. Not Catholic conference, not private school conference, not non-FBS conference. Best Basketball Conference.

UConn is Tier 1. add UConn.

There is no comparison to VCU, St Louis, Dayton, Richmond, etc.

add UConn.
