Fair enough...stream is back up and looking much better now! Doug McD interview now.

From Zak Keefer:

"Ackerman notes #BigEast will host NCAA East regional this spring at Madison Square Garden. 1st time Garden will host a regional in 53 years"

Zags:

"Val Ackerman says no plans for Big East expansion right now. Had been talk of Dayton and St. Louis among others. She says no for next year."

No way in hell she would bring up expansion possibilities today at the BE media day for this season!

This is because the Big East remains big time whereas the AAC is the new name for Conference USA, which is a mid-major. Maybe it's just me, but I really hate seeing the Big East and AAC constantly mentioned in the same sentences. The Big East needs to remain in conversations that include the power five football conferences as the only difference between us and them is the fact that they sponsor football and we do not.
As always, this is Just One Pirate's Opinion!

Mike Aresco made this profound statement at the AAC media day:

"AAC commish Mike Aresco emphatically says in opening words: "We will not pay players. We will not create an employee-employer relationship."

https://twitter.com/BrendanPrunty/status/390482060592562177

IIRC Ackerman nor any one else from the BE has been this definitive against paying players, which has the effect of saying "our league won't stay aligned with the power 5 conferences if they break off around this issue." Huge decision!

Hey JOPO, marquette got the original post confused it was the ACC not the AAC that was mentioned...lol.

"Jay Wright says winning a Big East Championship in the Garden is "as big as winning a National Championship."
