Butler thought it had Brad Stevens forever. No coach is beyond leaving for more money or a different challenge.

The question is whether Buzz will end up at Texas when it opens, not if there is anything at all he would leave for.

Texas seems at best a lateral move from Marquette. His home area may be calling but if he's ok taking a back seat (way back seat) to Texas football then go for it. I'd like to think he knows he has it better at Marquette.

I also think there is no way Texas pays him more than Marquette he is one of the highest payed basketball coaches in NCAA, I think second highest. I also think Texas may over look him because he will be to expensive.
Coach Al Mcguire:
"I like seashells and balloons, ribbons and medals, bare feet and wet grass."
"When I'm losing, they call me nuts. When I'm winning, they call me eccentric."
"Queen of victory, pray for us."

Not true have you ever heard of Coach K? If the NBE turns out to be legit and Buzz feels he can win a championship here (I love Al Mcguire for our first one but back then the competition was pretty much UCLA Indiana and Kentucky) then he'll likely stay after/if turning down Texas.

I don't think Texas cares about money. Money is the one thing they have plenty of.... However, I suppose this may be the one year where money may matter as they will have to buy out both a football coach AND a basketball coach.

Texas is a great job for a coach that is a good recruiter; there is so much talent right in the back yard. I think both Buzz and Gregg Marshall would both be very successful there. Yeah, FB will always come first, but that can take some pressure off of you for awhile too.

In the article below, he says he loves Wichita. Hopefully Buzz and Mack have the same opinion and don't want to leave either. I'm hoping they take the guy from Maryland (Turgeon). He coached at Texas A&M before moving to Maryland.

Why do people continue to buy into this?

Oh he says he loves us and likes his current job? No freakin' way! He's obvi here forever! Jeez. Marshall WILL leave. Shaka WILL leave.

I mean seriously, Buzz and Mack may leave buuuuuuutt Marshall and Shaka are more secure? And I'm one who is nervous about Buzz and Texas. That's been the scary one forever.

Well hopefully Texas doesn't want him that badly and its gets too expensive to steal him ($3.5+ ish) especially in the same year as grabbing a football coach for $5 mill plus. But thats the scary unknown. If they do really want him they most certainly can pay him whatever he wants. I'm sure Marquette would offer the same though and probably at least a little more if they know the full UT offer. Hopefully they settle on Pastner or Marshall or Shaka who would be more willing. Have heard things on T boards that there's pressure for one of their next coaches must be someone of color.
