An interesting race is shaping up in Big East soccer.

Providence upset #14 St. John's 1-0 yesterday @ St. John's. Tough week for the Johnnies who also lost a close one to Fairleigh Dickinson earlier in the week. The Red Storm's record has now fallen to 5-4-1, 0-2-1.

As expected, #4 Creighton beat Xavier, #11 Georgetown beat Seton Hall, and #16 Butler beat DePaul. Marquette beat Villanova 1-0 at Villanova. The standings now shape up as follows:

1. Creighton (2-0-1)
2. Providence (2-0-0) [tie]
2. Butler (2-0-0) [tie]
2. Marquette (2-0-0) [tie]
5. Georgetown (1-0-1)
6. DePaul (0-1-1)
7. St John' (0-2-1)
8. Xavier (0-2-0) [tie]
8. Villanova (0-2-0) [tie]
8. Seton Hall (0-2-0) [tie]

The big game this week is Wednesday's confrontation between PC (7-1-2) and Georgetown (8-2-1) in which the Friars are hoping that home field advantage will enable them to pull off another upset. Marquette (6-3-1) has similar hopes that hone field will be favorable to them in back-to-back matchups at home against Butler (8-2-1) and Creighton (6-2-2).

I'm getting into it. I wish there were games being shown on TV because following anything more than scores is difficult.

When do they update the soccer polls? Have to think PC is getting close to cracking the Top 25. Only loss is to UVA. They admittedly didn't play a very strong non-conference schedule. Brown was ranked when they played them and that game ended in a tie. Other than that the only ranked team they have played is SJU.

They sure took care of business against St. John's, didn't they?

I think the polls come out on Monday. St. John's seems primed to fall out of the top 25, so PC is positioned to replace them.

College Soccer News updates their top 30 polls on Monday: http://www.collegesoccernews.com/

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America Poll comes out Tuesdays in the afternoon: http://www.nscaatv.com/rankings

The Soccer America Poll also comes out on Tuesdays:http://www.socceramerica.com/publications/college-soccer-reporter/edition/2013/10/

The league is doing well overall and I still think it comes down to Georgetown and Creighton for the BE title, especially with St. John's slip ups lately.

The Semifinals and Finals of the Big East tournament will probably televised as they have always been in the past. I hope going forward Fox Sports1 shows more BE soccer as they used to show a college game every Friday evening on Fox Soccer so I hope starting next year they show a BE game every Friday evening. Even if it's on FOx Sports2

Yeah, the soccer season so far has been a bit of a disappointment for us Marquette fans. Not a terrible season, but we came in with high expectations that haven't been met. The conference overall is really good this year, we have several contenders for the NCAA championship.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Unbelievably disapointed in MU's season so far after last year's team got up to 2nd in the country.
