STAY:
*Nick Ongenda
*Jalen Terry
*Caleb Murphy
*Zion Cruz
*Da'Sean Nelson

IN:
*Keyondre Young (JUCO)
*Dramane "Ladji" Camara
*Churchill Abass
*Jaden Henley (Transfer from Minnesota)
*Jeremiah Oden (Transfer from Wyoming)
*Chico Carter (Transfer from South Carolina)
*Elijah Fisher (Transfer from Texas Tech)

A lot of potential success in 2023-2024 will hinge on whether or not Ongenda gets some NBA interest or decides to play overseas. Seflishly, I hope Ongenda returns for one more year. His continuity is important but he is also a physical force in the paint. Pencil him in as your starting center and go from there.

Murphy, Terry, and Cruz are fine in spot starts and bench roles. One of them will need to take a leap to get excited about.

Nelson returning to the team is huge and very welcomed. He should start next year but could see him continuing to be a 6th man (more like a 5 1/2 man). Gets some a little bit of everything across the board. https://depaulbluedemons.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/da-sean-nelson/2867

Oden looks like roster depth for big men, doesn't even have great board numbers. Listed at 6'8 https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/gamelog/_/id/4703399/jeremiah-oden

Young looks like roster filer. Not even the best player in any category at Triton. Listed at 6'8 https://tritonathletics.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2022-23#individual

Henley brings some excitement given his age, listed as 6'7 https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/5105821/jaden-henley

Fisher looks like he'll compete for a bench role among the guards https://texastech.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/elijah-fisher/12150

I would hope/think Carter gets a starting spot at guard https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/gamelog/_/id/4593683/chico-carter-jr A great shooter.

Abass is a big guy (6'9, 240lbs). No idea how he'll play but they need the size. https://bigredlouie.com/2023/03/30/2023-pf-c-churchill-abass-completed-season-tunisia-plans-head-states/

Camara is listed as a 6'5 guard but supposedly has a 7-0 wing span https://247sports.com/Article/DePaul-lands-the-commitment-of-international-standout-Dramane-Ladji-Camara-206584785/

Might be something to get excited about.

The team could still use another center and/or forward. Losing out on Babacar Mbengue and his 7'0 size is a bummer.

Ongenda is staying in the draft and going pro. I believe he was the last Dave Leitao recruit

Barring something unforeseen, this will be my last update on DePaul. Feel free to add any commentary.

POST-DEADLINE UPDATE:
DePaul got hit with some bad news late as Nick Ongenda declared to stay in the NBA Draft and will not return to DePaul. But DePaul did pick up some talented players such as Fisher from the portal and Abass from overseas. Fisher was highly touted out of HS but wasn't really a factor at Texas Tech but I still think the upside with him is there. Oden and Carter were solid players at Wyoming and South Carolina, respectively. Oden will need to prove he can be serviceable in the Big East. Abass is another prospect that intrigues me. Great size at 6'9 245, length with a 7'2 wingspan and athleticism as he had a 38 inch vertical, all according to the official DePaul Basketball website's press release when Abass signed. He'll have some adjusting to do to the American college game but the talent is definitely there.

DePaul needs to turn themselves around. It won't be easy because this program has been stuck in a losing culture for a long time. But it can be done! Here's to hoping Tony Stubblefield and the Blue Demons turn some heads in 2023-24 and field a competitive team.

Leitao brought in Max Strus from Lewis College. He had at least some eye for talent.

DePaul announces plans to build a $60 million on campus practice facility for Men's and Women's Basketball, as well as a renovation for the existing Sullivan Atheltic Center.
