Notre Dame's deal with ACC is thru 2036 and for them to join any conference as a full member it would have to be the ACC so there's that. And why would ND join Big East for sports like baseball & golf? And then if the CFP expands to 8, 10 or 12 teams then ND will be independent forever in football. Maybe sometime in 10-15 years they might consider a move but again imho across the board ACC>BE and frankly ND thinks it's heads & shoulders above any other Catholic U so I don't think they'd join Big East and get proven wrong.

agree ND isn't going anywhere but concerning the catholic university thing... you remember they were in the same conference with 7 of those catholic schools for almost 20 years? they don't fear competing against anyone. if the big east becomes more advantageous down the road, then they would seek membership. they gave statements of support or neutrality of the big east pre 2013 until they found a better situation.

Relax, gtmo's scenario is if and only after some combination of ACC schools get poached by the SEC and B10. I think ACC minus FSU, Clemson, and UNC is still able to backfill with B12 schools (maybe even UCONN) and stay attractive enough for ND to want to stick around. If they lose even more and even B12 is looking at poaching from them? Who knows if ND decides 5 games per season with slop that's left isn't worth it. Early 2030s will be interesting to say the least.

Gonzaga message board thread:

Small sample size, but Zags fans seem generally supportive.

Where are these rumors originating? In the Zags thread, someone mentioned "based on the events of the last few days"... ??
