Between the absolute trash calls that worked against Xavier and significantly aided Providence, the stoppage in play due to some inexplicable roof leakage, this X fan is salty. I am not one to normally call out the refs and impact on the outcome, but last night was the definition of home cooking if it were to be defined in the dictionary.

I still don't understand how that one play wasn't a Flagrant with how flagrant's are called in 2022.

The one at the 2nd of the 2nd OT- as billyjack brought up the Xavier defender followed the guy out of bounds. May have touched the ball, which would have been an automatic T.

East Carolina fan here.... yeah, yeah, I know.... Anyway I just want to say congratulations for your schools making the right decisions, especially UConn. What a game last night between X and PC. Holy crap. That was fun to watch and I'm not a fan of either team but it looked like a hard core rivalry game to me. I grew up on ACC basketball (dgaf about it anymore) but IMHO the Big East is shaping up to be the premiere basketball league right now.

It pains me so much to have to root for such a sorry program so I guess I'm living vicariously x2 via the Big East this year. I kind of wish you guys would pick up Davidson as they're right down the road from me basically. That would be a lot of fun.

Well Billy Jack, what too say? It doesn't get much better than last night. Congratulations for sure. I agree 127% with you about Lappas, Geeze that guy is annoying. Hoping for one last shot at you guys in the BET. Bynum will be haunting my Nightmares for some time to come now I'm afraid. Time to turn the page, somehow.

Can you imagine if he was your coach?????? yeah... we had that. He had one of the most talented teams ever at Nova with Kerry Kittles leading the way and we flamed out in the tourney....

Right, too many Lappas absurdities to remember, but a couple that stand out:

End of regulation, tie game, PC only 5 fouls... Kunkel with ball ends up in a really awkward location, forced by Watson to take a low-percentage fall-away 15 footer from baseline with a hand in his face.... Lappas: "whats Watson thinking???... you gotta use that 6th foul there!..."... cool, let X design a set play from a better location and with PC is a worse defensive position. I mean, c'mon...

End of 2nd overtime... X fouls soph Alyn Breed... Lappas: "good, thats the guy you want to foul if you're Xavier..." Breed walking to line, stat pops up showing 88.2% FT percentage, lol.

Yeah geez, i still cant believe how intense that game was.

I can see that the Durham non-call on the intentional foul should've been called differently... hand went over the right shoulder.

Also, the roof leak was a momentum killer for X... like 3 minutes left, up 3... not sure who had possessio of the ball but it allowed the Friars to rest and get their legs back. That was huge.

Generally, i thought X shouldve continued driving to the hoop... had to ton of success, and misses were often put back in by your big men... the threes outside of Kunkel were unnecesary... thats just from my perspective, i might be way off. I mean, there was a stretch where Freemantle and Nungy in the paint were scoring at will... why get away from that?

And easy for me to say, but besides the typical sh-t calls that affect both teams, i didn't think those bad calls favored either team. There was an late layup by Bynum where they gave us an and-one-- maybe Freemantle swept his hand in cuz i didnt think Scruggs fouled, but thats where Lappas was supposed to explain the call, which he didnt.

You are spot on. It reminded me of the Cubs during the late rain delay in Cleveland. Gave them a breather and time to regroup. I was honestly shocked that the foul on Durham wasn't called flagrant especially after seeing the second replay that showed him grab the shoulder with his other hand. It's been that kind of year for your Friars.
