Omaha1: Happy for Friars fans. CU had a couple years where it felt like everything was coming up roses, until Mo Watson tore his ACL and then Zegarowski tore his ACL. May god grant you a reprieve from our fate.

I do wonder how many games we think PC will lose before the conference year is over? They escape three difficult games but still have Nova twice and at Butler. My guess is 2 more losses.

My take from the other day -
Nova 15-5 (L's @UConn, @Butler) RS Champs.
Cr8n 14-5,
Prov 12-5 (L's @Butler, Lil Cr8n, @Radnor).
UConn 13-6 (L @Cr8n)
Marq 12-7 (L @Cr8n)
Xavier 10-9 (L's @UConn, @Prov)
The Hall 9-10 (L's @ Xav, @ Cr8n)
Butler 9-11 (L's @SetonH, @ Marq)
StJ 6-14 (L's @Xav, But, Crei, @Dep, X, @Marq)
Dep 5-15 (L's @Seton, Marq, @UConn)
Gtwn 0-19 (L's @Nova, Dep, UConn, @SH, @Xav)

Great movement for St. John's, from #78 to #68.

to think they were #90 just a few days ago.

Butler drops from 118 to 131. Getting close to that 135 mark which is playing them at Butler being Q2 vs Q3. With 4 Q1 games left to play for Butler.

I expected UConn to climb to 16-19. Providence still out of the top 10. Inexplicable bias against the gutsy Friars. Oh well

For Providence I'm not too surprised. They were one of only 4 teams in the top 11 that lost, with them being the lowest ranked team of the 4. And the committee had just put them at 15th. Probably could have dropped even more.
UConn I'm a bit more surprised with TBH. Thought they would be up around 19th.

It really sucks that Creighton is dealing with depth issues just as they gain some momentum toward the top 25. I would actually like our chances @Providence the way we are playing -- IF we had Kaluma and O'Connell. Kaluma could potentially play on Wednesday against st johns. If both of those guys are out, these next two games are going to be brutal. It was reported that AOC's sprain was not mild -- no idea if he will try to return before or during the BE tournament.

The committee had Providence at 15, so I think 11 is actually kinda fair. Yahoo's Jeff Eisenberg had this reaction about Providence:

https://sports.yahoo.com/four-key-takeaways-from-the-nca-as-early-bracket-reveal-180143233.html

3. How the committee seeded Providence (And what that means for everyone else)

One of the trickiest decisions the committee had to make was where to place Providence. That’s because the Friars have a resumé that rivals the likes of Duke or Villanova yet computer metrics that suggest they’re nowhere near that good.

Providence established itself as a team to watch during non-conference play with a road win at Wisconsin, followed by a home win over Texas Tech. Since then, the Friars have ascended to the top of a loaded Big East that could send as many as seven teams to the NCAA tournament.

And yet, despite that success, Providence is still 29th in the NET, 40th in Bart Torvik’s rankings and 45th at KenPom. Metrics that take margin of victory into account don’t like the Friars, who are 9-1 in games decided by five points or fewer and have been blown out in losses to Virginia and Marquette.

In the end, the committee paid attention to the predictive metrics and awarded Providence the second-to-last No. 4 seed. It’s a decision that offers insight into how the committee might treat other teams whose resumés and metrics don't match.

Among the teams who are banking on favorable predictive metrics to boost their seedings: Houston, LSU, Saint Mary's, Virginia Tech and Oklahoma.

Among the teams who, like Providence, are ranked lower in the predictive metrics than their resumes would suggest: USC, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Oregon.

It's telling us that the pollsters are actually respecting Providence more than the committee.

I see a future scenario where due to our weird metrics compared W-L, that Kenpim etc get formula adjustments...

then...

a couple of years from now we have great efficiency yet mediocre W-L, screwing us in the other direction.

Although Marquette drops from the USA Today Coaches Poll, It's good that UConn moved up in both
the coaches and the AP.

side note: From way out in the weeds, Lil Cr8n receives 1 AP ARV and from da weeds to #32 in the Coaches Poll.
Keep rollin' Lil Cr8n...

The upcoming road W's this week over the Johnnies & Prov will help. :o ;)
