so over on the CSN site we were talking about the conferences a bit. Further down the list was the Horizon at 27th. Has any conference been in free fall more than the Horizon(really since Butler left but even more since about 2017)?
I mean from 2013-2016- Horizon in KP was 12,12,14,16. From 2017 on they've been 20,24,18,22,20, and now this year where in KP they're 26th.

They have been losing members quite regularly, and I guess sometimes it doesn't catch up immediately. I expect more conferences to look like the Horizon going forward. There are only 10-12 relavant conferences in a given year, and that number may go down a bit.

This stuff is pretty random in a given year, but I wonder how FBS football affects its basketball programs. Will the AAC (even after B12 departures they'll have taken the best of CUSA), MWC, and Sun Belt trend up? Or is being basketball-only an advantage for the likes of A10, MVC, and WCC? I'd be lying if I told you that I know how it'll go!
stever20 wrote:The AAC right now would still be ahead of the MVC this year(with Loyola btw). I just think the AAC and MWC with what they have will be ahead of any of the non basketballs non BE/A10. WCC losing BYU really hurts them- they either have to expand or go back to the round robin which kills SOS. I'm not sure I'm counting long term on USF and St Mary's. MVC might be interesting. One thing they're going 12 teams/20 games so the round robin will be gone, which might help them a smidge.

PC- 19-2, 10-2 in Q 1/2, rank 29.
TT- 17-5, 8-5 in Q 1/2, rank TEN! Lost to PC.
XU- 15-5, 9-5 in Q 1/2, rank 18. Lost to PC.
UW- 17-3, 10-3 in Q 1/2, rank 21, Lost to PC.
MU- 15-7, 8-6 in Q 1/2, rank 27, Lost to PC + Q 3 loss.
Here are the real f'd up numbers.
UH- 18-2, 4-2 in Q 1/2, rank TWO! ZERO Q 1 wins...0-2
SMC- 16-4, 2-7 in Q 1/2, rank 23
Murray- 17-2, 3-1 in Q 1/2, rank 26....Q 3 loss!
I just can't make sense of it. There must be a margin of victory component, otherwise it simply is not close to accurate. Can someone explain why it seems so flawed?

I been getting the sense that it is not worth it to schedule tough opponents anymore in the OOC. I don't think the NET values that enough. I think it values MOV more. The Big East should schedule less tough opponents and beat down on top 100-150 teams early on to boost the NET. Its unexplicable how the Big East as a whole has been sliding down in the Conference NET rankings since the start of the league season. I'm pissed tbh
Bring back the RPI!!!!!!!!
