Cuse is destined to follow the path of BC and Pitt into regional irrelevance. The replacement hire of a HOF coach is rarely successful, and top area talent already doesn't wanna play in a Carolina-based league. They're on their way to becoming post-Natty AAC UCONN.

Agreed. I think "New York's college team" is likely to spend most of the next decade battling St. Bonaventure for 3rd in the state with St. John's and Iona a distant top 2.

the thing also is does the Boeheim style really resonate any longer? Especially during the regular season they've struggled. They haven't been more than a 8 seed since the 2014 season. 66-64 in ACC play in that time.

I think that's a large part of the issue right now. I think the issue moving post-Boeheim is that Boeheim is the single most attractive thing Syracuse offers recruits. It's not a particularly desirable place to live - not even really close to NYC. All the big time regional rivalries are gone - most road games are in the south. They don't play in anywhere near the best league in the country anymore. No more conference tournament at MSG - and in the past that's where Stray legends we made. I think the next coach is going to have a rough time.

Cuse still leads the country in attendance and plays in a top-tier conference. I'd be shocked if they don't get out of this rut eventually.

Baylor is the only undefeated team remaining. USC shouldn't have been ranked 5th with their schedule.

That designation lasted for all of about 90 minutes. Baylor with about as bad of a final possession as you ever are going to see.

1976 Indiana lives on.

from David Warlock- the NCAA stats guru
This is the 5th time in the past 30 years where multiple teams who were the last undefeated teams remaining lost on the same day.
*Duke, Okla. St.; 2-5-92
*Florida, Duke, Pitt; 1-21-06
*Nova, Ariz. St., TCU; 12-30-18
*UVA, Michigan; 1-19-19
USC, Baylor; 1-11-22
*Won the title.

Doubt we’ll see an undefeated season from power conferences again.
