Yes: 52 - 62%

No: 32 - 38%

Small sample size but this is what I have so far.

Small sample size for the poll on the Gonzaga site, but i think only 61% for "Yes" is pretty low for a fanbase.

Just to be clear, one of the voters said they wanted to switch their vote so I updated the numbers I posted here.

Stay in your lane Dayton...

Omaha "IS" the Gateway to the West...and has been for over a Century + (123 years!).
Kansas City also has a greater claim than STL to the moniker, albeit not as valid as Omaha's.

The kicker is: The Western half of the Transcontinental Railroad starts in Omaha...home of the Union Pacific Railroad. Built by... the UP Railroad and John Creighton as lead Logistics supplier.

From June to November 1898, Omaha was the crossroads of the world as host of The Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition. More than 2.6 million people visited the exposition, many to see Geronimo, one of 500 Indians from 35 tribes in attendance at the concurrently held three-month Indian Congress, which began on August 4, 1898, with the Indian Day Parade.

The Mormon Trail begins in Nauvoo, Illinois, not St Louis.

True West Magazine - https://truewestmagazine.com/gateway-to-the-west/
Located on a plateau above the west bank of the Missouri River and its confluence with the Platte River, Omaha has always been a good spot for westbound travelers to pull up, shake off the dust and look around.

In 1804, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark stopped there to meet with Indians on their epic trek to the Pacific. Two decades later, in 1825, the American Fur Company established a trading post at what’s now Hummel Park.

I’ll leave it to St. Louis and Omaha to fight out the title of “the Gateway to the West.”

Gateway to the West - True West Magazine says “Located on a plateau above the west bank of the Missouri River and its confluence with the Platte River, Omaha has always been a good spot for westbound travelers to pull up, shake off the dust and look around.

“In 1804, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark stopped there to meet with Indians on their epic trek to the Pacific. Two decades later, in 1825, the American Fur Company established a trading post at what’s now Hummel Park.”

But St. Louis says IT was where Lewis and Clark stopped in 1804. It incorporated as a city in 1823, putting it ahead of Omaha.

Lewis and Clark could’ve stopped in both areas, for all I know.

The Gateway Arch monument in St. Louis, Missouri sits along the west bank of the Mississippi River is part of Gateway Arch National Park. The Gateway Arch takes its name from the city’s role as the “Gateway to the West” during the westward expansion of the United States in the 19th century.

At the end of the day the tourney creates about $1B in revenues yearly. Imagine if that $ was spread out equally among 64 teams. $15M per school.

Sporting News did a pretty good job of calling out Huggins for his comments (https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sporti ... in9cgghnb7) but the most glaring error is the fact that by expanding the CFP to 12 teams with 6 automatic qualifiers college football is actually moving more towards the March Madness format of full INclusion rather than the exclusion he’s dreaming for. His idiot comments changed my opinion of him for the worse.

Django - I thought I had read another post from you here as well. I’m just curious, did you take it down or was it taken down?

No biggie. Just curious. And you are (were) right!

No problem. I haven’t had any cocktails since Friday and I didn’t want to think I was seeing things. Enjoy your evening.

I just read that topic over there. I like how some of them think women's basketball would be a lateral move, and soccer, etc are superior in the wcc.
