NEW: The Sun Belt is expected to make a decision on expansion any day now. Could add as many as four schools.

Marshall and Southern Miss are largely viewed as the best options by people in the Sun Belt, if they expand. But James Madison and Old Dominion are schools to watch as well, plus more on the feeling on Liberty.

So CUSA could be down to 5 schools: UTEP, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, LaTech, FIU.

Where do you measure out on the RELIEVED _|_ ECSTATIC METER when it comes to UCONN being in the Big East, versus a decision that would have left it remaining in the AAC? I would have to think that even some of your blockhead hardcore football fans have to be at least relieved that UCONN escaped the AAC mess.

Prior to the defections, the A-10 was already the AAC’s main competitor. Now I’d say they’re fighting it out for ninth place vs the MVC or WCC?

Basketball will be P6 + G5 that'll fight for multiple bids

A10 intact
MVC with Belmont + possibly Murray
MWC intact
WCC minus BYU
AAC minus UCF, Cinci, Houston, plus 6 CUSA programs

No way the MAC has unity character history continuity competition and heritage. The AAAAACK is way worse in many regards. The only thing they have over the MAC is the South and its full delusion and dedication to their Confederate Flag and their dream that college football is the true continuation of the Civil War (bizarre racial ironies aside).

Also, apparently the MAC is now considering Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee. This is nuts.

^that was my idea. Pretty basic stuff - they fit geographically and they both are large, directional public schools with decent basketball and decent football.

C-USA should disband. With likely only 3 members left - FIU, LA Tech and UTEP - it is much easier for C-USA to close up shop, eliminate exit fees and allow those three to move to FBS Independence. FIU could move to the ASUN. NMSU and LA Tech should go to MWC, but WAC is more likely.

I can't see C-USA bringing up 5 FCS members that meet minimum requirements. Liberty isn't joining, neither are UConn or UMass.

That is pretty bad for the AAC when Rothstein is saying that. He is normally a positive guy.

I guess he feels really strong about this.

Southern Miss leaving CUSA for the Sun Belt.
