Questions about Big East tourney

Hoping to get flights from Omaha to Newark. Looks like Southwest flies and there are a couple of direct flights too. Wish we had some idea how ticket distribution was going to be handled and the cost.

Tickets are split among the 10 member schools. Each school determines how to distribute their allocation among their fans. The secondary market is also very active so if you can't get tix through your school stubhub or certain sports bars in NYC are great places to get tix before the game.

There are always tickets available so if you want to go you can if you're willing to pay for the price of the ticket.

So does anyone have a list of cheaper hotels in NJ that have subway connection to MSG?

Don't know how cheap it is but the Newark Penn Station Hilton would surely be the most convenient in NJ if you're taking the train to MSG. Hotel is attached to Newark Penn Station where you get the train right to MSG. Never have to set foot outside.

I travel from omaha to ny on business quite often. You can fly direct to laguardia, but then will need a taxi to get to the city on delta. United has direct flights to newark. The advantage of newark is via new jersey rail takes you right to penn station. There are several hotels in new jersey that are real convenient. There is a nice hilton garden inn in edison, that last time I was there would pick you up and drop you off at the local train station. Couple of stops away from newark airport and penn station. Very reasonably priced

Edison is a bit of a hike to Penn Station probably 40-50 minutes. I'd recommend staying in Newark or Manhattan. Pretty much any hotel in midtown or downtown Manhattan will be easy to get to Penn Station. You should reach out to your school as well and find out what the team hotel is and if they are organizing any special pricing.

I'm tired of debating Friars opinion of which he has formed by not staying in Nj. So instead I'll provide those of who are interested with facts.

MSG sits directly on top of NY Penn Station. NY Penn Station primarily serves people commuting into NYC from CT and NJ (using NJ transit). A 3 minute walk from MSG is a PATH station. PATH is a train service that connects NY and NJ.

PATH from Jersey City or Newark to NYC is 2.50 and runs 24 hours a day, late it runs every half hour.

NJ transits last train back to NJ leaves NY Penn Station a little after 1am.

Hundreds of thousands of people commute daily between NJ and NYC and arrive to work on time. Thousands of fans commute to the Big East tournament from NJ every year as evidenced by the enormous amount of fan gear on the trains during the Big East tournament.

For those looking to use NJ Transit just go to njtransit.com. It tells you how to get around using trains, busses or both. To get to MSG you will want to set that station as New York Penn Station. Staying in New Jersey (despite what friarfan2 keeps saying) isn't a bad commute as long as you stay in Newark or in the Essex or Union County areas, farther than that and the commute in will be a little longer than what you'd want. In NJ you would want to rent a car to get around but don't drive into the city, for that you definitely want to take the train.

Seton Hall is located in South Orange which, like Newark, is in Essex County. SHU is a 20 minute train ride to MSG and lots of students will head in that way.

I'd be happy to help, especially our new conference mates who may be first time visitors to the east coast. The Big East Tournament is a great experience and if you can make it you should certainly plan on making he trip.

I really hope fans of the new schools make the trip. If not this year certainly in the next couple of years. Our attendance at MSG needs to be comparable to past tournaments. If you are contemplating the trip, I encourage you to do so.
