Well he just decommitted. Blame this one squarely on Mac.

That showed maturity and good judgement. The timing of the decommitment was all that needed to be said. Very unfortunate for Creighton.

After coach's 'plantation' comment, Creighton loses high-profile recruit TyTy Washington - Lorenzo Reyes, USA Today – March 11, 2021
Just three days after Creighton men's basketball coach Greg McDermott was reinstated following a suspension for racially insensitive comments made after a recent loss, the program lost one of its top recruits.

Point guard TyTy Washington, a four-star recruit according to ESPN, announced on Twitter that he was decommitting from the Bluejays and would re-open his recruitment. Washington, though, did not give a reason why he decommitted.

"After a lot of discussion and talking with my family & coaches, I have decided to decommit from Creighton University, and reopen my recruitment," Washington wrote Thursday on Twitter. "I'd like to thank the Creighton coaching staff for the opportunities that they've placed before me."

As a big Marquette fan, I’m quite pleased with the hire. Shaka Smart is a very experienced and respected coach who has as good of chance as anyone of holding onto Marquette’s highly-touted 2021 recruits:

Talented 2021 center Jonas Aidoo decommits from Marquette after coaching change - Ben Steele, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel – March 29, 2021
When there is a coaching change at a college basketball program, there are usually repercussions for future rosters. Marquette, which entered a new era after hiring Shaka Smart as head coach, got a mixed bag of news Monday regarding its 2021 recruiting class.

Soon after Smart's introductory news conference, Kameron Jones, a 6-foot-3 guard from Memphis, Tennessee, reaffirmed his commitment to the Golden Eagles with a post on social media. Jones was recruited to MU by former coach Steve Wojciechowski and assistant Dwayne Killings, who is now head coach at Albany. The talented bucket-getter averaged 22.5 points and 11.2 rebounds per game for Evangelical Christian and was named Mr. Basketball in Tennessee for his division.

But a few hours later, 6-foot-11 center Jonas Aidoo decommitted from MU.

Jones signed his national letter of intent in November. Aidoo committed in December, but couldn't sign his NLI with MU until April 13.
Justin Gainey, an associate head coach on Wojciechowski's staff, led Aidoo's recruitment. Aidoo is considered an under-the-radar prospect from Liberty Heights (N.C.) High School. He committed to MU just as his stock was rising. Many schools will be interested in his length and mobility.

The third member of the Golden Eagles' 2021 recruiting class, 6-2 guard Stevie Mitchell from Wilson (Pa.) High School, hasn't publicly declared his intentions. If Mitchell wanted to decommit from MU, the school would have to release him from his NLI.

Boston College in Contact With '21 Center Jonas Aidoo - A.J. Black, SI.com – March 31, 2021
Boston College has been in contact with '21 center Jonas Aidoo out of Charlotte (NC) according to reports from Rivals.com.

The four star recruit recently decommitted from Marquette after the firing of Steve Wojciechowski, and reopened his recruitment.

Since his decision to do so, he has reportedly heard from UNC, Texas A&M, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, and Maryland. The 6'11 big man, rated 80th overall nationally by 247sports.com will undoubtedly be a hot commodity in the next few weeks.

Our SI All American team did a scouting report of Aidoo and said "He is an active 6-11 big with a 7-4 wingspan, efficient shooting ability from the perimeter and the ability to handle the ball and create. Add in his shot-blocking ability, and those attributes will make him an instant-impact player at the next level."

Friars Strike Again: IU’s Aljami Durham to Transfer to PC – The Providence Crier – March 30, 2021
Yesterday the Friars landed Jayden Epps, who will reclassify [to the HS Class of 2021] and enroll at PC at his summer.

Marquette dropped 28 places in the 247 Team Rankings (from 21st to 49th) after Jonas Aidoo decommitted.

It will be interesting to see how far Providence rises after 247 Sports reclassifies Jayden Epps to 2021 and updates their Team Rankings.

My heart goes out to Marquette fans. Losing Jonas Aidoo was most unfortunate.

Ryan Nembhard scores 12 points, 3-3 from 3 and 7 assists as Montverde wins Geico National Championship. Nembhard MVP of game and soon to be top 100 ESPN player.

Creighton adds 6 foot 8 inch tall Zander Yates. High school teammate of Mason Miller. Had three division one offers, but will join the Jays as a walk on or so it appears.
Nebraska by birth, Creighton by choice.
