Happy to see CU play a strong second half and O’Connell might bring some value this year. Kind of surprised how bad SJU is still. I thought maybe they had turned a corner with Anderson.

Definitely need to improve on closing out games, but nice to see some other guys step up when Mamu's shot wasn't falling and how about Shavar Reynolds being the guy to take the crunch time shot!

Hall desereved that game IMO, no question. That travel-which was indeed a travel- at that time of the game, right in front of the M bench! Can only imagine what Wojo was saying since we can't read lips anymore!

Chap,
There are 2 controversial traveling calls being discussed. The SHU travel with no whistle and a quick TO and the one you are referring to.....the HUGE McEwen 3 that was waved off for travelling. Yes, there was something odd in how he planted his feet before the release.... almost like a Euros Step/Jump Stop hybrid.

IDK man, I've noticed a lot of players (after picking up their dribble) are getting away with some long stride change of direction stuff and exaggerated jump stops. I think there would be a healthy number of refs that swallow their whistle on that one. If that one counts, probably different outcome.

Last 80 minutes of Marquette basketball was about as entertaining as it gets!!

Easy to say after a win of course, but I don't really see the controversy. McEwen's travel was pretty clear. Maybe refs let it go too often, but it was definitely a travel (one could've been called just prior to the pass to him too). As for the other one, I agree Rhoden probably shouldn't have been given the timeout (he slid slightly before calling it) but it ended up being fairly insignificant and arguably hurt SHU more than it helped them. It burned their last timeout with over 4 minutes to play and they didn't score on the extra possession they gained from it. I guess you could argue the extra 30 seconds that possession burned could have changed the result, but that's kinda it.

Koby traveled no doubt about that. It's upsetting that travels weren't calls consistently all game (for both teams) there was a clear run from mamu that was also a travel no call. Still overall I'd take those refs over the ref sponsored foul fest that was the Creighton game.

Well...at least in the way they called this one, I agree. I'm not sure either anyone from either side forgives the 2 of them who were also responsible for that shitshow at the Garden a couple years ago.

Yeah, I missed the McEwen one. I must have been out walking the mutt... missed that one. No question on MU, very entertaining. X vs MU is going to be a fantastic game!

And regarding the travels, you're not wrong. While I no longer recall any specifics, I caught myself yelling "that's a travel!" at my TV on several occasions. The difference of course, was that my reaction to McEwen's was "thank you, finally" while I'm sure yours was "*** now you call it."

Good game overall. Impressive fight back after a slow start and I really thought you had us beat when Carton tied it. With a full crowd in the building, I think you would have.
