Guys, I understand you hate Dayton, I also would be annoyed if a Wichita fan posted on here with subtle stever-type digs promoting his team.

But I've never seen Flyer post anything derogatory against X, and frankly I find a lot of the data interesting. Also, Dayton, along with St. Louis, was very close to being invited to this conference and since its inception have done very well (also feel they got robbed more than any other team last year). Now as far as your constant and almost daily attacks and insults (VD?) you're not doing yourselves any favors, and in fact only make yourselves and your fan base look tasteless.

Now if I'm wrong and you can find a post on here where he's insulted you or the conference I stand mistaken, but until then you might want to stop, because you're only making Flyer more likeable on here.

Django, if you had ever exited a NIGHT game at UD arena in X gear, you would totally get it. That is one rough walk to your car win or lose. There is a large, nasty element in their fan base and just classless in general. The "VD" reference is a popular one because it kinda sums up what I just mentioned. I don't use it.....I prefer UDump.

I have no idea what angle this guy is playing....because....he won't tell us. Go ahead, like away for the overly detailed stats. He's not derogatory by design or he would probably end up banned.

But again, why put in what must be some serious time in research, for another conference message board? Flyer? Flyer?

Thanks for the reply Xuper, as I said I totally get it and would prolly react the same way, but it's just that I don't think he is going away and by posting as much as you and Dash do about--"that fan of another team"--shall we say, only seems to give him more oxygen and brings out his presence. I prolly wouldn't even notice he was here tbh. And you have to give him credit that he's transparent about who he is and what team he's for and not a secret little spy like Stever, who we still have no idea which team he's on!

Your bolded statement simply isn't true. Dayton was never "very close" to being invited. They ended up on a list, because they existed, and because the decision makers simply wanted to initially understand all there conceivable options. That was as far as it got with them. On the other hand, St. Louis was bouncing around in there for a while, but some adroit Jesuit politics came into play, which obviously worked out in your favor.

Are you telling me that you would simply be "annoyed" with Wichita fans if they came on here constantly; that you wouldn't take shots at them? Please. I am not going to take the time to look up instances where Muddy took some shots on this board, but he has taken them.

Otherwise, unless you have a true understanding of just how toxic the "rivalry" between Xavier and Little Brother became (is that better than referring to them as VD?) then you are in no position to tell Xavier fans what does or does not do us any favors when it comes to the topic of VD. BTW, using the phrase "VD" isn't necessarily done out of hate. It's done for comedy effect. The poor idiots at Dayton came up with a logo that looks like VD. We didn't design it for them; they did it to themselves.

I seriously doubt everyone here appreciates or likes his data dumps. If you find them enjoyable, then good for you - leave it at that. I have him on ignore, so I don't see anything from him unless he is quoted or unless I choose to take an occasional peak at his drivel, which I hardly do.

Beyond that, I think it is safe to say that most Xavier fans are far and well past Dayton at this point. I don't "hate" Dayton. They've been left behind and that's about it. Frankly, it's about what X-Man asked: why is he here at all and why does he spend so much of his life putting together long posts involving a conference with which he or his team isn't affiliated, or will ever be affiliated?

I wasn't in the room where it happened (Hamilton, anyone?), but each of the C7 schools probably had their preferences and they ended up with BU, CU, and XU. Let's be honest, these three have given more to the league than almost anyone other than Nova so far.

Yes Father Lannon our then president “reminded” his friend the MU pres about Creighton in the 60s and 70s, the last time we were on the national stage, which could have helped, but the Billikens are Jesuits as well so you can blame Marquette for choosing us over them. I’d like to add The McDermotts and being the alpha of the then-much-tougher MVC played a bigger role than what Lannon did, but it just proved we were the right choice.

I get your point. I think there is a lot of interesting information, too. However, one doesn't have to say, "Xavier sucks!" to post anything "derogatory" about Xavier. Clearly, the fact that he posts long posts about the whole of the two conferences and then singles Xavier out like this insinuates an insult.

Is this factual? Sure. Is he posting about the opponents of St. Johns and Georgetown? Nope. He simply posts isolated facts intended to diminish X. And sure, that's his right. Put him on ignore or whatever. I've been a reader here for a long time and poster (Muskeagle....but lost my password and it won't send me an updated password, so I created a new account). I've never responded to him directly, and won't, but to say he's not being derogatory is naive. It's like going onto a Democratic message board and listing heights of presidents with the insinuation taller is better and posting:

Lincoln 6'4"
Trump 6'3"
Bush 6'2"
Biden 6'0"

Again, you don't have to say, "boy, Biden is short!" to be making the point.
