X has a great resume, even though they're the luckiest team in the NCAA and likely won't keep this up. Regardless, they're 4-0 against decent competition and only have a few more OOC games remaining. Their (super early) RPI is #24 and NET will likely be worse since that factors in margins, but definitely have to be happy with wins no matter how you get them.

Great win for the Johnnies last night. I think we'll be a bubble team this year.

Please somebody...

Xavier & UConn please break into the top-25 in a hurry, before the non-conf is done.
We need at least 3 tms ranked, due to anti-BEAST bias from the writers.

Not sure a KPom 65 team that's barely escaped beating three mid majors is a team to put your hopes in (not saying we are) but yeah I agree hope somebody else breaks through.

Yeah, I don't see a path for X to break into the polls before conference play starts. Our best shots are UConn and Marquette - nobody else really has a schedule that can make people take notice. Possibly could've added Seton Hall to the list if they pulled out the Louisville game, but that loss makes it tough.

Not buying into MU till I watch the game tonight. They looked decent against a solid veteran Eastern IL team so I'm cautiously optimistic but 2/3 against OK St, UW, and UCLA gets me to buy into this team.

I'd like to see a third team ranked too, but the conference is doing well so far. Only 3 losses, all to P5 teams, and 2 of them by 1 point (NET caps OT games at 1 point). Can't take the cupcakes or mid-majors for granted, especially not this year. The ACC has lost 7 games, the SEC 8 games, and the other P5 conferences are at 2, 4 and 4 losses. We have fewer losses than all but 1 conference.

This year we have half the time to get teams ranked during OOC play, but as long as the conference is strong overall (as it is now) there's no reason we couldn't get a third team ranked by January.

I'm a bit biased as a Johnnies fan, but I absolutely would've signed up for only 3 conference losses by this point. We're fortunate to only have 3.

I don't disagree with you. My point was simply that MU's remaining OOC schedule presents them with a path to a ranking - particularly that Wisconsin game. A win there does the trick, but with a couple more high majors to play, maybe a good showing plus winning the rest is enough.

Losing that Texas Tech game hurts. With it, SJU would've been another team with a path to a ranking before conference play.

Yep wish we could've played that, but as long as the Big East continues playing at or near this level then we'll have plenty of Quad 1 conference opportunities. As for the AP rankings, I think things will really come down to the top 3 or 4 teams with this new 20 games conference schedule and reduced OOC.

For instance, if Hall is third/fourth in the Big East and does well OOC, then I definitely think they'd get ranked. If they're worthy of a ranking 2 weeks from now, a 1 point loss at Louisville won't keep them out. Just look at the 2 UConn games as 2 more OOC games. Plenty of opportunities from now until the end of the season.

2 years ago we had a week with zero ranked teams late in the OOC schedule. We still ended up with a couple teams ranked during conference play and 4 teams made the Dance. That was our worst year while last year was our best year. I think this year will be somewhere in the middle of those.

Just to reiterate what others said, if X wins out and in convincing fashion, they would probably receive votes but be at like 33rd or something. Yes, that would mean they had beat both UC and Omaha, but they also didn't have high preseason expectations and haven't done too much to disabuse people of those expectations so far.
