Creighton and DePaul cannot practice or meet for 2 weeks right? Are you guys thinking they'll be able to jump right into games on Day 15 or will they be delayed beyond the two weeks?

Is it just me or does it look like the Big East is disproportionately affected by this compared to other major conferences?

I don't think the Big East is disproportionate...i think it seems that way because it's the one that gets most of our attention.

I believe in the Big 10, Indiana, iowa, ohio state, michigan state (Izzo!), and Minnesota for sure have all had COVID issues on basketball team. Football teams at Penn State, Wisconsin, and Rutgers have all had COVID issues.

I think if you checked around you'd find similar issues at all conferences though timing for some teams might be worse (for example, some schools had their basketball team positives in September, which is less of an issue than November 19).

Xavier had positive Covid tests in September and shutdown for two weeks. However as a private school chose not to share it with the media as it did not impact scheduled games.

I'm sure they are not the only school that has done this.

The Big East has an uphill climb, especially when the programs shut down even if a positive test isn’t a student-athlete or a coach (directly within the team). Not all conferences are following the same protocol, so it’s not surprising we are shutting down more. I don’t agree with it, but it is the decision that had been made. It is what it is.

If we committed to a higher standard, we should have, IMO, looked to do a bubble beginning in January, which is still possible. If we get another program shut down, momentum may get stronger.

Seriously. Just binge out a bunch of games on a neutral floor in early January. No, we wouldn't get a balanced home-and-home schedule, but that isn't going to happen anyway with cancellations bound to happen. The Big East could knock out a large chunk of the 20-game schedule before spring semesters start up. Regular season championship and BET seeding will likely have to be determined by winning percentage rather than just the number of wins, and yeah, it's gonna be unfair at times. Accept the unfairness from the start and try to mitigate it rather than being surprised after the fact when something happens like the regular season champion ending up with fewer wins than the next couple teams or they win while not having to play on the road against the top couple teams. This isn't even considering things like a team losing multiple starters for a string of games, which will definitely happen to some team with an attempt at a normal schedule.
