Like someone else said, they should be bad in the short run but may be able to recover. They do have a rabid (though delusional) fan base that would be very attractive for someone to make a jump up in the coaching ranks.

They can certainly pay a coach enough to live like a king in Wichita, KS but he'd still have to live in Wichita, KS.

100% and this can not be overstated enough: in expansion, it is crucial, absolutely crucial, to invite members with similar interests and associations. If you invite one school because of one program, especially one that only recently began playing at a high level, it severely and negatively impacts the group membership as a whole.

Without a top-level basketball program, what does Wichita State provide to the AAC? It's not a football program. It's not academics. It's not a media market. It's not a historical rival of anyone within the conference. So, what is it?

Wichita State was only added because UConn took a dip after the 2014 NC, and because the rest of the league was mightily underperforming. If those two things don't happen concurrently, WSU never gets added. In a way, UConn was a final gift to the AAC. Incredible.

I'd have to think that they're still one of the better programs in their conference going forward, but the next hire is important.

Their fan base is too putrid hick to ever be anything ever again. No good coach would want to be around a classless group of clods. The fact that they don’t even ban their most classless/racist fans is proof positive they are doomed as a program. Good riddance.

He's a fool. His anti Catholic rants and prediction the Big East would fail because we were predominantly small catholic schols and not large public institutions, coupled with how the AAC was going to crush the BE with WSU as the flagship were just fantastic takes.

Where are they now? In a league that lost their BB flagship to the BE, on the verge of losing their coach (dont understand it since virtually all coaches hit their kids and chase students down on the streets, right?) and have gone from what he believed was the forgone leader of the AAC ... to a drag on the limited conference $$$ from the tourney- since they are now years from any relevance.

Hey NovaChap.

Any takers on your group discussion zoom calls?

You're a genius...I knew it all along. Now you're reading the tea leaves as well?
I am amazed you can predict Nova's future with such uncanny accuracy. ;)

Not shy, just don’t have the research/ analytical skills or personality y’all have. Still waiting for the next blue notes btw. I think there are more than a few X fans on here to partake and once they get a year under their belt a lot of UCONN voices.

Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall has resigned following an internal investigation into allegations of physical and verbal abuse, the school announced Tuesday.

The school and Marshall agreed to a contract settlement of $7.75 million to be paid over six years.
