Big East will play conference games before Christmas

Normal years, starting mid-December could cause some concerns with game preparation for those early conf. games, because finals are also mid-December (unlike some other P5 conferences, Big East players actually go to classes - well most do, anyway). However, this year, Creighton has announced that the semester will end on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. That means the basketball team has nothing to do but practice basketball from after Thanksgiving until classes resume January 13. Next year's calendar, however, shows finals through December 11. Hopefully, the ADs and conf. schedulers take that into account when scheduling the early games in the coming years. It would also be nice to see them keep that one-week break somewhere in each ocnf. schedule. I think it is good for the players.

might be a special thing this year for the mid-December start.... Knowing most schools will be going early, leaving Mid-Dec. more wide open.

Typically conferences that do early season conference games do them early December. Last year Big Ten was the weekend of Dec 6-8(Fri-Sun) and then early that week. That's a fairly typical set up.

Also, going to have byes every rotation next year with 11 teams.
