UConn just started men's and women's basketball season ticket sales and renewals, and is reporting that in two days, it has sold more than in the first six weeks last year.

The "UConn will be making/earning less crowd" continues to make me chuckle. I posted on the other forum the other day how UConn was spending, on average, $8 million in travel expenses per year the past few seasons (and how UConn will be spending dramatically less than that moving forward). Not only were the sources viewed as "inaccurate" (it was from UConn's financial releases/stories), but these same fans remain convinced that there is no relation between "saving money" and "earning more money".

Ticket sales are up. Interest is up. Viewership will be up. SNY got retained. Football managed to complete a full five-year schedule as an independent in under a year, including $1.5 million buy games against former national champions (Michigan, Clemson, Tennessee, Ohio State). Football has a deal with CBS Sports. Travel is significantly cut down; more regional/bus trips. They won't be spending on AAC production for ESPN+. Fans can actually travel to away games now. Fans can actually attend a basketball tournament. Most importantly, recruiting/program talent is quickly improving.

Honestly, the biggest argument years from now was why UConn did not do this move sooner. Well, that, and how any conference, especially one fighting to become a power conference, losing their lone national championship brand is, actually, a positive/good thing.

Here's a bit of trivia for you.

Q: When was the last time a current AAC school won an NCAA national championship in any sport?

A: The 1980's.

#Pow6r conference.

Meh..... Huskies will be gone in a couple years either B1G or ACC. TV contracts expiring for B1G soon i think they'll look for more Eastern schools and poach some combo of cuse/uconn/pitt, if cuse/pitt join the B1G, ACC will come for UCONN. Either way wojo will keep on underachieving

Start with a list of top football candidates and top markets and then tell me where UConn sits on that list.

If they get that opportunity, good for them and I won't blame them for taking it. Though I would caution them to look at how well it's worked out for other northeastern schools like BC, Syracuse, Pitt and Rutgers. All chasing football glory (money) and all fading to irrelevancy (or in Rutgers case maintaining irrelevancy) in basketball without really improving their football standing either.

We're here for the long haul. If anything I think we'll see the P5 shrink, not expand.

It's really hard to be that pathetic. UCONN has 20 Nattys across 4 different sports since an AAC school's most recent Natty.

I'd agree with this. Greed doesn't entice people to share.
