All the supposed humility in the post above me, then you look at the signature... He left out hung the peach basket, but don’t think for a second they don’t think that.

You all are in for a treat with these gasbags. Trust me.

Yeah I figured the UConn - PC dust ups were just assumed. But I thought BoukClub couldn’t have been more magnanimous in his fandom views. And he should be proud of that run that UConn had over that 25+ year period. It was the best run in college hoops over that time.

If the atmosphere at last year's double-OT thriller in Charleston is any indication, I think you're right. I seem to recall more than one poster over in the UConn Boneyard Forum last November commenting on how incredibly annoying X fans were.

Although, I am interested to see how many Husky fans actually become regulars on this board. There doesn't seem to be many right now. The Boneyard has been around many years (since the mid-90s, I believe) and is one of the most active CBB message boards I've seen (comparable to that of a small-market NBA team), where many of the topics overlap with those on this Board. And, as has been observed above, UConn fans tend to be some of the more... self-congratulatory... fans in CBB, and therefore wish nothing more than to carry on a circle jerk with other UConn fans about how good UConn is. I, for one, enjoy engaging with other CBB fans about their teams, conference play, and also getting a fresh perspective on how people view my Huskies outside the UConn biosphere.

Having said all of the above, I think you'll find that many UConn fans have eaten pretty large slices of humble pie over the past five years or so. Most have had the sense of entitlement beaten out of them during the Ollie years, and will just be thrilled to be out of the purgatory that is the AAC. We should be more pleasant this go-round

Believe me, I don't feel it's my duty to run a little PR management here for Xavier and I certainly appreciate the dynamics of message board "contributions", but I read the Boneyard thread on that game, and, while some comments like that were made, other posts noted how solid and engaging Xavier fans were in Charleston. And, on the Xavier board, the same basic, ever present thing was found about UCONN fans - - compliments and comments about them being tools. Every fan base has its fair share of both. It's sports, with fans of all kinds.

This will be interesting. UCONN has a passionate fan base, but for good reason, given their accomplishments that mainly occurred under Calhoun. Frankly, I think Xavier fans, in particular, will be able to deal with that very well, because we had for many years put up with delusional Dayton fans who thought way too highly of VD basketball. In the event that UCONN goes all "cock on the walk" on the BE and then backs it up, well then, they'll have deserved their bluster, and UCONN and the BE will benefit from that.

If geographical proximity is a key factor in all this, how can it not be that UCONN and Providence will be the ones to escalate to DEFCON 2 or 3? Recruiting battles may be one thing, but it seems that UCONN and Providence might become a major in-conference rivalry.

Lastly, I lived in Fairfield and worked in Westport for a couple of years. Fairfield, the town, and Fairfield COUNTY are simply beautiful, and certainly upscale overall. I would never have gotten to the perception of the "subway fans" being clad in overalls, etc. had it not been for comments made here.

Perception versus reality. Damn.

But their fans. Oh, their fans. I would suggest all of the fans who didn't previously experience a BET with UCONN to withhold their judgement until they see one firsthand. 10,000 drunk middle-aged white guys with long-sleeve t-shirts tucked securely into their carpenter jeans, New Balance 409s squeaking on the polished concrete of MSG, secure in their knowledge that college basketball started around 1992 and Jim Calhoun is basically Jesus Christ with better man-to-man concepts and more capacity for forgiving (his players') sins.

This is a great analysis! Thanks Letsgo. One of the multiple reasons I was so saddened that the BET was cancelled this year was to have one last year without the insanely annoying UConn fans. They are unbearable. If anyone here has been to the BET the past few years and gets a chance to attend in 2021 (god willing), trust me when I tell you, they will become your least favorite Big East team by a mile.

Your distaste for Hurley will FAR exceed your distaste for Calhoun. Also, we tuck our long-sleeve shirts into our tighty whities, not our carpenter jeans.

Well, that pretty well demolishes my remaining perceptions of the Connecticut fan base.

The next thing we'll see here is that none of them had The Official Preppy Handbook growing up and that their grandfathers didn't own at least one Buick along the way.

Haha, love it, Husky. I do think Hurley is a perfect fit with your fanbase, take that how you will! He and Willard are basically the same dude, which I don't think bodes well for SHU.

As an aside, I truly enjoy the Boneyard on occasion. The never-ending thread when they were hiring Hurley was a thing of beauty.

UConn's football four-year deal with CBSSN reportedly will pay the Huskies more than $1M total. And they don't have to produce the games.

CBS Sports Network will televise four home games during the 2020 season and all home games through the 2023 season.

What do we get? We're supporting their football!
