Butler takes a major hit. Will likely patch that up with a transfer at some point to ease the pain of a lost class.

Friars tearing it up early.....reloading with a pair of multi-year studs in Goodine and Croswell.

Also interested in hearing expectations of transfers that had to sit out this year.

Maybe Gumby or Chap can give us the inside scoop on Caleb Daniels after being in the system for a year. Guy looks rather studly on paper (dropped 36 on WSU in his last regular season game) and Coach Wright was masterful with the timing to fill a need. I mean a 2nd year Moore and this guy, along with a healthy Antoine playing shooters to Gillespie's point.....yikes!

How about ol' Git posting the book on Antwann Jones. A 4 Star out of HS, I believe. he was given ample PT for Memphis but didn't get much traction. Looks like one of these hybrids type wings. Might be hard for him to see significant minutes with a loaded roster.....maybe blossoms into something special in 2021/22.

PC has a Pipkins PG clone becoming eligible out of St. Joe but would like to hear if he's made any noise in practice.

I know other teams must have transfers expected to contribute, so any info would be appreciated as we self quarantine.

Can one of you Butler guys shine some light on the Battle transfer? I mean WTF, he was going to be given every opportunity to star in this league! Now he has to sit out a year and I can not see him improving his situation regardless of where he ends up. Don't tell me Myles Tate spooked him......Is it possible someone is in his ear talking pro?....nah.

Antwann Jones played really well in Australia, although his PT varied since they he wasn't going to play in the season. Didn't score that much, but was a stat stuffer. This is from CU guide:

Led team with 6.3 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game in Australia, and had eight rebounds, six points, five steals and four assists in final game vs. Bullets Invitational.

XUP, word out of practice is Daniels is the real deal. WAY back when, during the Blue / white preseason game, there were times he was the best player on the floor. Only downside I saw previously was he was kind of a high volume / usage guy at Tulane---but there wasn't much around him. Supposedly can play D---which will get him on the floor--- a lot.

Antoine to me is the key. This virus situation is going to cut into his on campus strength program. Our strength coach is top notch and to me Antoine not only was injured but is skinny as a rail and given Nova swithches EVERYTHING he must bulk up and get stronger to handle guys on the block. Yes, to your point, compared to last year we are going to be really strong in the back court. I love Moore, he is a stud. Gillespie has exceeded all expectations IMO and is legit first team BE next year.

I think its pretty much a done deal Bey is going pro. JRE is the key on the frontline. I think (hope) he goes through the process and sticks around for 1 more year. His 3 point shot was steadily improving. If it continues to develop... watch out. Dixon redshirted last year, big kid, strong. PA player of the year 2 years ago. Have no idea where he is, but red shirts taking a year to learn the system have traditionally done well at Nova. Like most way too early polls, I think in the unlikely event Bey and JRE stays we are top 5, maybe top 2 with a chance to make a very serious run. If just JRE stays, probably top 10, if he goes too, a very different, smallish team probably top 15.

Sorry for the extended opinion, not like there is a lot to do!

IF Daniels' alpha dog routine in the AAC comes anywhere close to carrying over to the BE, he will DEMAND minutes. So where does he get them? Looks like Antoine takes the hit if an effective Daniels emerges.

The way I see it Gillespie is no doubt your full time QB, so 30 mpg sounds about right. Moore has undeniably earned the starting 2 spot and is 20-25 minutes good.....anything less just doesn't make sense. That leaves Daniels as the guy poised to get most of those 25 or so backcourt minutes. Even more so if he has a reliable handle.

If this plays out, regardless of how many minutes he gets, Antoine will likely not be satisfied (Most 5 Stars tend to be impatient). You know what I'm thinking but not going to go there.

Hopefully this won't derail the thread.

No, not all... fair point. Who knows how he reacts to the # of minutes he ultimately gets. That said, Nova is extremely comfortable going with a 3 or even 4 guard set for extended time. Jay shows he will play the guys that "get it" on defense. that's why I mentioned we may back to a smaller line up and the days of "guard U" versus "Wing U". Who knows, but it will be interesting. BTW, from all accounts he appears to be a good kid, head on right and bought into the team. Appearances are VERY different to the Quinerly deal, particularly body language wise.

I don’t think Bynum is a Pipkins clone at all. I LOVE Pip, but he wasn’t a pure point guard, he was a scorer first. From all reports that is not Bynum, who is a true point guard, not just forced to be one because of size. Horschler was a beasts on the boards at North Florida, averaging nearly 10 per. Reports are he’s got some decent touch, moves well for a big man, can occasionally step out for the open jumper, and is obviously big on the boards. Hopefully this all translates to the Big East.

Wanted to bring this thread up top because so much has happened since the last post.

Hard to argue that SJU and GTown are the biggest losers having lost All Conference guys. Coleman-Landis/Gage exiting DePaul stings as well and there were a few other known commodities transfer out (Mintz, Tauren Thompson, Battle) other than that, the conference gained far more talent than it lost.

With some key "sit ones" ready to emerge and waiting on several more "play now" waivers, in addition to the new transfers that will definitely play, the BEast did a nice job keeping pace with the P5.

X will have 3 transfers eligible and all 3 could surprise on the court but definitely will make a difference in developing our young talent.

I am hoping some Butler, STJ, GU, PC, DePaul people here can bring us up to speed on your situations. You all seem to have ready to play guys flying under the radar. Any updates on the known higher profile transfers would also be appreciated.
