not sure how this is relevant to the discussion

Sorry if it wasn’t clear. Was pointing out sitting a tournament is much more important than being best in reg season. Was referring to 17 being number one overall seed in the NCAA. Equivalent of a reg season conference champ on national level.

Stupid debate. Both are important. Seeding in the NCAA is predicated by what a team does in the regular season (of paramount importance). Winning the conference tourney guarantees inclusion into the NCAA tourney, very important.

The only, absolute only participation trophies are NCAA shares received by a school that doesn't ever add to the till. DePaul and Pantelis Xidias are the poster children of participation trophies.

You know it Les! Sing it babs! And let’s face it, those trophies pale in comparison to the Buckeye News Hawk Award!!!

I have no comment except to tip my hat for using the handle "Les Nessman". I've said this before, but I've always had a thing for Bailey Quarters.

Nice call. Bailey Q. was to WKRP as Maryann to Gilligan's Island. Many focused on Loni A. Nice to see someone else thought the same.

Well it seems that the B1G, "the best conference in the country" doesn't have issues with RS championships...even tri-champs.

Michigan State (22-9, 14-6 Big Ten) shared the conference title with No. 9 Maryland and No. 24 Wisconsin. The Spartans will be the second-seeded team at the Big Ten Tournament behind the Badgers, with the Terrapins seeded third.

The other side of that coin is when you raise a banner that claims something it is not... This is courtesy of our friends out on Hawk HIll. Question for X fans...who was the Atlantic 10 Champ that year?

This year the BET championship is clearly more important given that we have a 3 way tie for first place. The regular season title is diluted when 30% of the league claims it.

Generally speaking, I'd rather be BET winner and consider that more significant.
