Or to lose close games the rest of the way.

^this is why their NET hasn't dropped more significantly. Last night was only their 4th double digit loss of the season (two of them to, ahem, Creighton). They've been in almost every game they've played this year and their NET ranking is more indicative of team quality than their record.

If Providence goes 3-1 the rest of the way (11-7 league record) and finishes 4th in the # 1 NET Conference, I have a feeling they will be in the NCAA Tournament. I know they had a bad out of conference record, but 3-1 should put their NET at somewhere in the 40's. Anybody want to play them in the BET? I know Creighton doesn't. Of course, I can't think of anyone I want to play in the BET except maybe-- well-- you know.

Amazing that a team that is 8-6 in this conference this year still has to go 3-1. And still must beat Marquette or Nova to do it. Just brutal. Or go 2-2, and then have to win the 4/5 game to go to the tourney.

The cut line averages to be about 48.
11 conferences have their leader below that mark, leaving 37 at large bids.
Conferences with members below the 48 mark, not counting the conference leader, have this many potential at large bids using the cut off method only. (Also assuming no conference tournament bid thieves.)

ESPN's opinion: Thursday, February 27, 2020: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... bble-years
It might not be popular, but, barring a Lunardi-style prohibition, under-.500 teams are likely to remain part of the at-large landscape for the foreseeable future. Here's our current projection of the bubble:

Bids from traditional "one-bid" leagues: 21 teams
Locks: 20 teams
The bubble: 42 teams for 27 available spots
Should be in: 17 teams
Work to do: 25 teams

Would you be more impressed by Creighton if the Bluejays lost to NC State by 22, to Wake Forest by double-digits and to Stephen F. Austin at home?

Not really sure what made yesterday different than the last few weeks, but DePaul finally dropped out of the top 75 in the NET.

tomorrow will be interesting. St John's is sitting at 74 and plays at home today. Think there's a very real chance they fall out of top 75 as well.
