Louisville won it in 2012 and 2013

Would you rather be a team that has 24 or 25 wins in the regular season and is up for a 1,2 or 3 seed in the tournament and lose in the BET OR would you rather be a team that is 13-15 in the regular season and catches fire for three games to earn a 12 seed in the Dance?

Simple question - which one would you like your team to be?

Weird that they didnt hang "#2 seed in Philly" banner. There's no implied national championship with a regular season "title", and a Big East Championship doesn't come handcuffed to a 9-seed either. Minimum of 15 teams get a top-4 tournament seed and walk away with nothing to show for it. Conference championship means something.

So do regular season titles(again ask Louisville if the BE RS isn't important), is it mid-major thinking to call your regular season champion a mid-major accomplishment? Obviously the correct answer is both titles(something we know a little bit about). I've done the research, I could list all the BET champs and how they fared in the NCAA, it's hit and miss as well. If the ultimate goal is NCAA glory, then getting the best seed possible is very conducive to achieving that and the best way to get a good seed? You guessed it, win the RS title.

Again, no they don't, beyond seeding. The tournament championship is the championship. I'd like to win as many championships as possible, conference and national. Villanova's 2014 season does nothing for me.

So we dismiss the Big East Tournament because it's just about "getting hot for a few games" but our entire season is judged by how far we get in the NCAA Tournament, which is equally about just "getting hot for a few games." Talk about hypocritical.

This is probably because I'm primarily an NBA fan, but treating things like the S16/E8 as accomplishments in their own right beyond, like, what advancing a round or two in the NBA/NFL playoffs mean is another wrinkle of college sports that remains weird to me (like the idea of a regular season title).

I keep seeing this bright lights of the worlds most famous arena thing being repeated. MSG is vastly overrated as the most famous arena, it got that when it had the biggest boxing matches, the Knicks and Rangers were powers, and NYC was a global metropolis. Now days NYC is the 29th biggest city, the rangers and Knicks suck, the biggest boxing matches are in Vegas, and due to advances in media you don't only see games from NYC, Chicago and LA anymore.

I really think this "bright lights of MSG" thing is an opinion for those stuck in a previous era.

Also from a personal opinion it was sort of bland when I was there in spring 2013 outside of the entrance, though I hear they did a big overhaul since that.

Another ridiculous take on this. Nobody is comparing extremes. The question is would you rather finish 2nd in the regular season and win the BET or win the regular season and lose the championship game in the BET. That is a better comparison.

This isn't gonna go well with the northeast folks... The MGS probably isn't even close to being the most famous venue in the world, but it certainly is the best basketball arena in the world imo.

The basketball world calls it the Mecca, the Press universally recognizes it as that and every conference would give their left you know what to play in it. It does not matter one iota what some yokel in Milwaukee thinks or Rhode Island either.

That’s not the question. The question is right there in the title. Which would you rather have?

Ridiculous is berating someone for feeling a different way than you do on something that’s debatable. Now that’s ridiculous.

And as I said before, you beat the Doug team and won the BET. Yaaaay. I guarantee I had more fun watching us have our season that year than I did had I had your season where you squeaked into the Dance because you beat us.
