Did any SHU, PC, Georgetown, Nova, UConn, or SJU fans choose the regular season? I'm curious. And there is no way the coaches of any of these schools would say the regular season over the BET. It is just too ingrained in the fabric of the schools.

By your insinuated logic then you should be downplaying the importance of the NCAA tournament? People can still be impartial and not have won it.

I'm not insinuating logic, just noticing a trend.

I’m definitely noticing that everyone downplaying the Big East Regular Season is a fan of a school who’s got no mathematical chance at winning this year.

Once your team wins a BET, you'll change your mind. It's special and it has always been the Big East Champion. In fact, they only recently began giving a trophy for regular season champion. The conference never handed out one for regular season - only the BET. St. John's has finished in first place or tied for first place five times. None of those were considered conference championships. They have been Big East Champions three times - 1983, 1986 and 2000 - those years they won the Big East Tournament and are the only years they won a mens' basketball Big East title.

Usually one of the teams that had a great season win the BE tournament but let's say a middle team or lower team won it, are you honestly saying you'd take 3 days of success and then a crap seed over the whole year being great, one rough game and a great seed? If you are then that's a ridiculous take that's still based on the "world revolves around the bright lights of NYC, and we need to be on one of the 5 channels on TV" mindsets

I thought that was the case regarding to BE regular season trophy being a new thing and having seen UConn's trophy case they have the NC's and the BET ones but not a "regular season" one to be found that I could see.

The thought that any of us is saying the regular season "winner" is not a great accomplishment is bull. It is, it simply is not the BET championship and never will be for the original schools or their fans. You have heard this same exact message from the fans of the old BE schools and there is a reason for that.

tough question. Regular season would mean you had an obviously good year, were ranked for most, nearly all, of it, will get a high seed in the tourney.
BE tourney is more exciting achievement but is it viewed as favorably by the selection committee? best would be to have a successful season but if you could only win one or the other the tourney would be best.
