The Big East Champion is determined on a Saturday Night at 7th Avenue and 33rd Street in New York City.

Regular season champs hands down. Not saying it's not awesome winning the tournament but I'd rather have the 2013 MU season again and be out in round 1 (and I had won all access court side tickets to the whole BE tournament) than I would have an average conference season and win the BE tournament.

Regular season championship hands down. Much harder to win night in and night out in this conference over the course of 2 1/2 months rather than win 3 games at MSG, IMO. Might not be won on a bigger stage, and winning conference tournaments is probably more fun in the moment. But regular season championship is a bigger accomplishment, IMO. Loved winning all those Arch Madness championships - even if not on the same level as the BET. But, in the Valley, there was always the relief from knowing you didn't have to spend the next week watching other tournaments to see who might steal your possible at large hopes if you hadn't won the tournament. No such issues in the BE for the majority of our teams. Heck, hardly even affects the seeding more than maybe one line if you were already a lock before the tournament.

I can understand that mentality in the old Big East when there was 16 teams and you could avoid playing the best teams. The new Big East is a true conference with round robin scheduling. It’s fair and equitable for all. Winning the league actually means something. Winning the tournament just means you got hot for a weekend.

I'm definitely noticing that everyone downplaying the Big East Tournament is a fan of a school who's never won it.

2013 though you have 3 teams with the regular season title. What does that prove?

Like Westbrook said in the other thread, it's apples and oranges (or ribs and lobsters). I won't be voting, but I would think most of the coaches would vote for the regular season.

I'll also add that our University presidents found the tournament important enough that it was worth handing all of our NCAA tournament credits to the AAC in exchange for the tournament at MSG and the name.

IIRC it wasn't the C7 tournament units, but rather any claim on the schools like Syracuse/Pittsburgh/ etc.
