I gotta say that I'm in the "it's a players game camp" and tend to believe that elite talent tends to provide cover for any coaching flaws one might have (SEE Calipari), but Jay Wright is definitely excluded from that debate. The guy is as good as it gets. Granted, Nova has a quality roster but it's not like anyone is in the POY discussion and production falls off after the 6th guy. However, Bey has emerged, Gillespie has the highest BBIQ in the league and you have 2 ALL BE freshman with 1 being FOY (1A and 1B). It's enough to be really good but top 10 good? Not without GQJ.

A statement win by beating a 2-6 team, that can't shoot if their life depended on it?
A game where SJU only 4 ft's (thought the home team gets the calls?), there were some no call.
But we do know that the refs are on their knees for Jay. 20pnt win so clearly not saying that was the diff in the game, just saying.

Beating a good team on the road is a statement win, sju are anything but good.

The Villanova gets all the calls nonsense has to stop and this isn't just coming from you REDMEN.

In regards to the game last night though, 10 minutes into the 2nd half both teams only had 1 foul called on them for the entire half. I don't even think Villanova was in the bonus when the game ended. For the entire game, Villanova got called for 8 fouls, SJU got called for 11. It was called close both ways. There were A COUPLE of calls that were close, but if you want to nitpick, there was a time when an SJU player clearly walked, even the announcers said something about it, and it wasn't called and SJU scored.

Anyway, I am not here to rub in the fact SJU lost last night, but to even hint that the refs are the reason is ridiculous.

Where was the call when Dunn got hacked right before the half
Nova is like duke getting 80% of the call, not even trying to hear it from nova

Read the bottom carefully.
"20pnt win so clearly not saying that was the difference in the game."

To help you nova fans out, it means:
I'm not blaming the refs for this loss.

I would say overall Nova does get more favorable calls than the average team, which isn't surprising given their consistent level of play. A couple years ago early into our 11 game skid the zebras blew a call during the final minute (vs Nova). Our season may have gone differently if we won that one, as later we went on a 4 game winning streak including vs Duke and @ Nova. The blown Seton Hall ending last year after our 12-0 start made us all a bit more critical of the refs. End of the day obviously refs aren't anywhere close to our biggest problem, but we've gotten some bad breaks over the last couple years and that will cause fans to vent.

As for last night, we just stunk and Nova played a lot better. We aren't a good team this year and I only expect 2 more wins the rest of the way. I think this game says a lot more about St. John's than Nova, who is already a top 10 team.

Anyways, no need to trash talk us as we've done a lot for the league these past 3 years and haven't had success of our own. Over the past 3 years we've gone 11-2, 12-1 and 11-2 OOC with wins over a bunch of great teams like Duke, WVU, Arizona, VCU, etc. We then went 4-14, 8-10 and now 2-7. Essentially we have helped everyone else out in regards to seeding. Our fans will obviously be annoyed seeing Nova fans gloat after another disappointing game, especially given that we all root for Nova during OOC/Tournaments. Just take the W and be glad you picked up what will be another Q1/Q2 win rather than picking fights with a frustrated fan base. None of us miss the Syracuse fans. ;)

Yeah, because whenever anybody comes to visit NYC, Utopia Avenue in Queens is definitely a stop on their list. I used to travel to Carnesecca from Manhattan and it was a complete and total nightmare. Would easily take an hour. It might as well be Montauk. Truth is, you are closer to being New Hyde Park than New York City. You know it, I know it. Let's move on.

But we actually are in NYC. We're not in Montauk or New Hyde Park.

Most of NYC isn't close to Manhattan.

St. John's fans on here have always been the feistiest, so it's fun to get them riled up. I should have done it pregame rather than post-game, but I don't post on here as much as I used to.

It takes about as long to commute from Queens to MSG as it does from Nova to the WFC. I've made both trips.

Also, I know there's a common perception that Nova gets all the calls. Quite frankly, as a Nova fan, I don't really care if that's the perception. Most of the teams people accuse of getting all the calls (Duke, Patriots, UNC, etc) are the ones who are the most dominant franchises in their sports/leagues. If that's how Nova is perceived (and it should be), I have no problem with that.

Cool, but we're still in NYC and NYC is way bigger than Philly.
