Heck of a comeback by Butler. That said, I still don’t feel like they are great team. Hopefully they can get healthy for ncaa time and prove me wrong.

Second home? I thought Philly was your second home? You know since your school isn't actually in the city.

Ha! And Utopia Parkway in Queens might as well be Broadway.

It's actually in NYC, unlike Nova and Philly. It's like Seton Hall claiming it's in NYC.

Yeah, because whenever anybody comes to visit NYC, Utopia Avenue in Queens is definitely a stop on their list. I used to travel to Carnesecca from Manhattan and it was a complete and total nightmare. Would easily take an hour. It might as well be Montauk. Truth is, you are closer to being New Hyde Park than New York City. You know it, I know it. Let's move on.

Man, that was a statement win by VU. No smoke and mirrors needed in this one as the Johnnies were clearly outclassed from the jump. This is the kind of W that instills confidence/momentum to dangerous levels as it pertains to the rest of the Big East.

I gotta say that I'm in the "it's a players game camp" and tend to believe that elite talent tends to provide cover for any coaching flaws one might have (SEE Calipari), but Jay Wright is definitely excluded from that debate. The guy is as good as it gets. Granted, Nova has a quality roster but it's not like anyone is in the POY discussion and production falls off after the 6th guy. However, Bey has emerged, Gillespie has the highest BBIQ in the league and you have 2 ALL BE freshman with 1 being FOY (1A and 1B). It's enough to be really good but top 10 good? Not without GQJ.

+1

I think we knew what we had in JRE and his immediate impact given his high profile in big games. There was apprehension with respect to Antoine because of his time away from the game and his slight frame (clearly justified), but to me the most pleasant surprise has been Moore. He has made a huge impact and just his ability take on primary ball handling at times and give Gillespie a break has been huge. Kid is super strong with a really good post game (which the Nova system loves).

Jay does develop kids... was really nice to hear Gus Johnson's commercial that 5 stars should give Jay 2 years and they will get 12 years in the NBA. Gillespie's growth has been unreal. From a liability at the point to someone we have to have on the floor in crunch time---with his IQ and ability to make plays, is just crazy. Clearly, Jay saw something in him. A gym rat with a football mentality. Bey--- man he is getting better and better (still think Naji outplayed him last time---will be interesting to see next go round at Cintas). He is the main one I am worried about leaving early.

all that said, I am in the Camp that the BE is Hall's to lose. They are very good, tremendous talent and this year seem more mentally sound than in the past. I don't see them having any possible meltdowns they may have had in the past (January swoons, etc.). Willard has pushed all the right buttons and knows his personnel. They are formidable.

I just want to go out and say that last night was the worst officiated game i've ever seen. bad on both sides. made me sick. the no call on goal tending for McClung was criminal but there were awful calls that went our way too. college basketball is becoming unwatchable with these calls

Big East officiated has been especially bad this year. That no goal tending call was ridiculous. The refs using the video replay to overturn a 2 shot foul (that they got wrong in the first place) was entirely inappropriate and goes against the rules of what officials are allowed to review. There were plenty of other non calls and calls that were not fouls this game. This season, this seems to be more common than it has been in the past, and it definitely seems like (at least from a Butler fan's perspective) that the officiating is noticeably much much worse since conference play began.

A statement win by beating a 2-6 team, that can't shoot if their life depended on it?
A game where SJU only 4 ft's (thought the home team gets the calls?), there were some no call.
But we do know that the refs are on their knees for Jay. 20pnt win so clearly not saying that was the diff in the game, just saying.

Beating a good team on the road is a statement win, sju are anything but good.

And there it is....Refs on their knees for Jay. 11-8 in fouls is a HUGE difference. Hard to get foul shots when your leading scorer is jacking up 30' 3's as well, but yeah... you are wright... I mean right
