You left it out there, I had to lol.
In reality, SJU's a good team (we saw that OOC) with a bright future, but the brutal Big East schedule can put good teams into a tailspin pretty quickly. Mike Anderson was great hire but hasn't seen anything like this league and it makes sense that he needs some time to adjust. In the SEC he had to play Kentucky, Florida and maybe one other good team in a given year mixed among a bunch of mediocrity. You let one slip away? No big deal, you've got a good shot at the next one. Let one slip away in the Big East and it can quickly turn into an extended losing streak. The Johnnies will be fine.
As for SHU, we've heard it before. "1 year wonder, just wait till Whitehead leaves and you'll be back in the basement." "SHU's done, they'll never recover from Delgado and the core 4 leaving, the window's closed." Now you're saying it about Powell. Who's graduation is gonna lead to our demise next? Sandro? Rhoden? Maybe the freshman, Tyrese Samuel? The bottom line is that Willard is building a culture here and every time one leader leaves, the next one steps up. That's why SHU's currently in position to head to its 5th straight NCAA tournament. There was uncertainly in the year post-Whitehead and the year post-Delgado, but it was next man up each time and there's no reason to think that won't happen again.
