Well, you’re not. Probably never will be.

Nice. Stay classy Omaha.

No question Dayton is a quality team. But, say, I am Mark Few as the #1 seed in the west, and Dayton & Nova were 4&5 seeds in the same bracket, I'd be rooting like hell for Dayton. Nova and probably Wichita should have jumped Dayton.

Kenpom:
Nova: 23
Wichita: 25
Dayton: 6

I could never be mistaken for a dayton fan, but not sure why you think this. neither nova or wichita have been particularly impressive

It's the over-reliance in raw win-loss record. Does Auburn have a Q1 win yet? As you said, the BE still bizarrely fell into rankings that's actually impressively accurate of our resume.

And that's why we have humans make these rankings and brackets. You'll convince nobody that Dayton is #6 team or even has the 6th best resume.

Dayton has a very good resume, but which top teams have they actually beaten? Georgia is 10-5. VT is 12-4. St. Mary's is 15-4. None of those are as good as St. John's win over WVU (and maybe Arizona), and when it comes to the Tournament I'd want to see teams battle tested who have already defeated ranked teams. For instance, Nova has beaten Kansas while Dayton lost to them in OT. Getting that game winning shot is massive, and Nova has the confidence/experience to get it done. Yes, battling Kansas to OT is impressive, but by the time the Tournament comes Dayton likely won't have any wins over ranked teams (given that nobody else in the A10 is currently ranked).

Would it shock me if Dayton makes a run in the Tournament? No. I just think it'll be tougher when they're not playing/beating ranked opponents.

In short, I'd much rather face Dayton than Villanova in the Tournament, regardless of what KenPom or NET says. If Dayton makes a run this year and then remains a good team next year, then that could change, but first this current team needs to show they can beat top teams. I don't believe any of these players were with the Elite 8 team.

Also, while I doubt Dayton will join the Big East (especially within the next few years), I'll still be rooting for them in the Tournament over non-Big East opponents. The Big East is always better off having options. Don't forget that Creighton and Butler weren't viable options until around 8 years ago.

I think we're entering a period very similar to what we saw from 2006-2011. If you remember we saw a lot of smaller schools making big NCAA runs. George Mason, Butler, VCU jump out of course.

Same. Always rooting for Dayton, VCU, and SLU to put together a monumental stretch of success. We're better off with 12 teams, and i couldn't care less about the double round-robin.
