Dahmir Bishop has entered the transfer portal

Announced this morning. A 4 Star out of Philly. Apparently a long list of suitors, including just about everybody in the BE except Nova. Lack of playing time the issue.

It stinks to see a kid who would have most likely contributed in the future leave, but Steele has a heck of a class coming in, not that big of a deal. I am sure Bishop just wants to play, which is totally understandable, but sometimes it is better to have the kind of kid who is really going to buy into the program, learn from the guys ahead of him, and wait their turn.

I'm with you 100% here Nation. I guess the final straw was being back home for the Nova game Monday and not getting off the bench. Probably friends and family were there and asking Dahmir something like "what's the deal here, how come you're not playing?" Four and Five Stars are great but it can be walking a fine line on working them into the flow and keeping them happy.

Good question Friar. I know some conferences have rules about not being allowed to transfer inside their league. Does the BE have such a rule? I can't recall this happening in the current BE configuration.

It absolutely does - the league hosed Creighton out of Tremont Waters when he decommitted from GTown.

You'd hope this would be when a kid would say "well, mom and dad, coach gave me plenty of opportunities at the beginning of the season, but i'm shooting 19% from the field and 29% from the free throw line". doesn't seem like that's how it went

I may be wrong but I thought if you wanted to transfer within the conference you would have to sit out 2 years.

You know, it happens. Some guys just don't fit, we had our supposed PG of the future in Quinerly, but it just was not meant to be. I thought when Bishop signed with you guys he was a good fit with your program...But, with the quality of guys coming in, I guess he saw the writing on the wall.

Side note, is Xup ok? Haven't seen him around in a while. LOL, just busting chops. I am sure there will be plenty of opportunity for trash talking and using that dry powder when Nova goes to Cintas.

The Bishop transfer especially hurts because he looked like he was going to be at minimum a reliable 3-and-D guy on the wing, which is really nice to have on your roster. I thought he would play significant minutes next year and start as an upperclassman. At the same time, it's not my college eligibility on the line with these future predictions.
