Holy Land fan poll - who finishes in 10th place?

Postby Omaha1 » Sun Sep 08, 2013 8:28 pm

On the MVC site we used to have a fun poll every year where the fans would choose each place from 10 to 1. if I can figure out how to do a poll here I will start one and try to keep it going until we get to a league champ.

Okay I started the 10th place vote and will move to the next spot every 3 days or so. My vote goes to DePaul although i'd like to see them improve from last year.

I chose Butler. This is a new league for starters but then they lost their coach and best player. Too much to overcome.

I actually went with Seton Hall. I think DePaul stays out of the basement this season. I think Seton Hall still need some time and some recruits. DePaul has Melvin and some experience that might keep them from the bottom.

I couldn't bring myself to vote for butler. That being said, I think it'll be a three way battle between BU, Depaul, and Seton Hall for the cellar.

You are correct that SHU does need time and recruits, but a few things to point out. Last summer, early pre-season polls were calling SHU to finish 7-8th in the old BE assuming Texas transfer Sterling Gibbs was going to get his waiver to play right away. WHen he didn't get it we were dropped to last in the polls because we had no point guard to run the show.

On top of not having a point guard, 7 forwards went down with injuries at the start of the BE season and the team was not able to even hold a practice for the rest of the year. Still we led the league in 3pt percentage and played teams tough until the end of the game when exhaustion set in.

From last years team we lost Aaron Cosby to transfer, but are replacing him with a top 100 guard in Sina and Sterling Gibbs at PG. Asking to make the NCAA this year is a stretch, but I feel we won't be last and will be a very tough out for anyone next year.

Great idea. Hard for me to pick against DePaul until I see progress.

I don't know who this Bulter team is, but I don't think they'll do so hot.

Went with Butler, this is Depaul's year to make a decent little splash (see 2007) before falling into the cellar again, Setona Hall actually has some decent talent but I can't decide on what I think of their coach. Butler though has lost the most in players, most in losing their coach, and is stepping up in competition.
