Now Hall fans know how SJ fans felt with the BS call that gave you the win last year. Seton Hall was shooting bricks all day whether it was mid range or 3 PT except Powell. They just don't have enough shooters and if Powell is off even a little bit or god forbid hurt, they are in for trouble. He put the entire team on his back because no one else could score. Mamu a bit but not enough to help significantly. Seton Hall and PC keep getting these deep teams with tons of experience and they keep coming up short when the spotlight is on them. Enough with "oh we got 6 teams in the dance" or "top to bottom we are the best league". As a conference we need to win these huge statement games every so often not just once every 3 or 4 years. And we need to actually do something in March with several teams making Sweet 16. Cooley and Willard flop in the tourney every time, so it's like a hollow achievement.

Mayhem, relax. It was a great game. Seton hall losing doesn’t make or break the conference. you are blowing it way out of proportion.

Also, please refrain from talking about PC and seton hall “coming up short”. You are a St. John’s fans. As am I. Don’t call the kettle black ya pot

Saying "this is the year and not winning these games" - get the F out of here with your nonsense mayhem. Lately, Seton Hall's been beating ranked OOC opponents as consistently as anyone in this league.

Last year we beat Kentucky. The year before that we beat Texas Tech and Louisville. The year before that we beat South Carolina. Last night, we didn't pull it out, but we took the pre-season #1 to the wire with Myles Powell on a bum ankle.

In the past 5 years (counting this year, just to help you out by tagging SHU with this loss) SJU is 1-5 in ranked OOC games. SHU is now 4-1.

Obviously I'm not saying SJ has done much either. We have also had some very experienced, talented, deep teams under Lavin and Mullin and sucked. We are complicit too, but it's frustrating when it always comes down to Nova or Xavier. We've been saying for years that someone...anyone other than Nova or Xavier has to step up big time. And I don't mean in the regular season. Our conference has been godawful in the tourney. If you take out Nova and Xavier, what do we have as an entire conference in 7 years or so...Butler's Sweet 16? Is that the only team to make it past the 2nd round? In 7 years? I mean that is pathetic stuff. No one is a bigger Big East homer than me and I know this will come off as alarmist, but man we have a ton to prove in March and we just got throttled by the B1G for the 2nd year in a row when we were supposed to be deep and they are a bit down.

The reason I bring up March is because losing a game like that will have a big impact negatively on your seed assuming you make it to the tourney. Last time we heard, "well it was just a tough matchup with UNC oh well"...yeah that's because your seed was not good...because you didn't do enough to get a good one and avoid them. This was Seton Hall's huge chance to get a massive resume win early and it was right there to take but they fumbled it away.

And us Hall fans are as disappointed as anyone - coming so close to an early signature win and letting it slip away. But there will be more chances. The Oregon game in Atlantis is huge now.

Ok, c'mon...

"Take out Villanova and Xavier"... huh? It's a ridiculous argument, and if some Orangeman a-hole tries to use it on you, then say "take out UNC and Duke and the ACC has won 1 National Championship in 15 years".

We were "throttled" 5 to 3...? If some Big Ten a-hole uses the term "throttled" at you, just say the B1G won the Gavitts, and can't win a National Championship"... freakin since Y2k.

And if you listen to ESPN, remember that they have ACC and B1G clowns all over their airwaves. So of course they'll make these ridiculous arguments.

Also as others have mentioned, Oklahoma beat Villanova in Pearl Harbor by 30. Villanova won in the Final Four by 40.

By the way, side note... in the game in Hawaii, i remember the players on both teams at halftime walking down the same tunnel to their lockers... Buddy Hield was running thru and deliberately slammed into the shoulder of a VU player like a douche and kept running. Douchey lack of respect for Villanova, who four months later humiliated the Sooners as though one of their Schooner wagons tipped over and ignited.

And the Gavitts... it's a weeklong promo for the Big East. Literally at every commercial break they talk about our history. No one cares if its 4-4 or 5-3 or 3-5. If it was 9-3 or 10-2 like we used to do against the SEC it might get noticed more.

And the results...

- losses... couple of eggs laid...
PC with typical brainfart...
Villanova adjusting to a young roster...
Creighton led at the half...
Seton Hall was up 5 with 2 minutes left...
Hoyas still finding their legs, idk i didnt see the game.

- wins... significant and important ones...
DePaul torching Iowa on the road, great sign for our Chicago team...
Butler supposedly in an off year with a great win against mid to upper B1G Minnesota.
Marquette adjusting to life with the Hausers, overcoming a big deficit to beat an upper B1G Purdue team...

and... not to be overlooked...

Xavier with a great win vs Mizzou

Mayhem is spot on with his narrative. It's time for us as a conference to put up or STFU. Creighton chokes to a "down" UMichigan. SH chokes to a typically short MSU. NCAA bid seeding has a direct relationship to who you beat in the RS and SOS. We ought not complain about bad seeding in March when we fail to capitalize on our opportunities. (By the way, beating UO in Atlantis is not the same as beating the #3 team in the country.) Making excuses in the tourney because of bad seeding is lame, as winning during the season/taking full advantage of your opportunities will fix that issue. No excuses please. Yeah it's MM spouting again...But he's making a very important point this time. PUT UP or SHUT UP Big East!
