The most impressive thing so far is the 31 assists on 39 made baskets by PC. Talk about unselfish, geez. That's got to be close to a All time record AND Big Nate did not play!! If this is any indication to what Ed Cooley has cookin' team chemistry wise, look out.

I think the Friars have the deepest roster of quality depth in conference....10 legit high D1 guys if their frosh Gantt pans out. Raising my prediction on them to top 4 with solid chance to win north of 10 games.

Gantt is probably player number 7-8 in that 10 man rotation.

Pipkins
Duke
Reeves
Diallo
Watson
Holt
White
Young
Gantt
Nichols
Monroe

Sheeeeeeesh. They actually have 11. While not many people have extremely high hopes for Monroe, he got some quality run in the opener and looked much more physically capable.

You're right. As I was marveling at the box score of the SHU game, I counted 10 but again, Watson did not play. So yeah, 11 solid D1 players makes for an extremely formidable squad.

This league looks to be far more balanced from top to bottom than it looked like 3 months ago. With Charlie Moore emerging for DePaul and SJU looks to have some decent pieces for Anderson to meld with the 2 guns, not to mention we have McBuckets 2.0, NO ONE is without the ability to win on any given day.

I think I will change my prediction of a few teams winning 12/13 games and a few losing 12/13. Now predicting that 12 will win the regular season. No clear front runner but I will go out on a limb and say it won't be MU, CU, BU, DU or SJU. And this may STUN some here BUT I have serious doubts about X....early returns are very disappointing! May have to look up some tasty crow recipes.

The play of the freshmen has been very encouraging. Can't wait to see what Kyky can do. Bryce Moore was awesome last night and Carter showed some flashes. When he gets to full speed I like what he brings. Tyrique has been totally unstoppable. He's played a total of 41 minutes in 2 games and scored 37 points with 17 rebounds on 75% shooting. Someone suggested on twitter he might be our best big man since David West and I'm starting to think that might not be so crazy. Naji almost had a 20 point triple double last night...

Personally, I like how we've looked so far

Here's the thing, we're really banged up. Gotta have a focused/healthy Scruggs or things get a bit shakey. The bottom line numbers are as expected, but the percentages on offense show nothing going toward improvement, which is a bit frustrating....even the turnover situation is stagnant. We are however going to be an extremely stout team defensively regardless. The BEast is going to be just brutal for all concerned...predicting something north of 10 wins for X but I think I will go with the honey glaze crow if necessary.

Turnovers are definitely down. Averaging 11 a game. I think we averaged 13+ last year.

Just factoring in the competition. Actually FT% is the real concern....it's blind to competition.

Not likely, but the good news is they probably don't have to be. It'll make getting through this OOC schedule with a strong record much more difficult, but if they perform as expected when he returns the committee shouldn't hold that too strongly against them. On the other hand, the team being forced to play this tough OOC schedule without him should result in a stronger supporting cast come conference play.
