In a free market-driven system like this, he said, prospects would get the money they deserve, and schools with passionate boosters willing to shell out funds could become larger players in recruiting.

In essence, boosters could put their money where their mouth is.

“In basketball, you only need one or two of those son of a guns,” Vaccaro said. “That would allow basketball to tighten up. The little school could beat the big school.”

In his sport, Plona could see name, image and likeness compensation helping schools without football, such as Marquette and Xavier. That allows boosters and local companies to focus their contributions on basketball.

“The Creightons of the world. The Wichita States of the world,” Plona said. “There could be some programs that really get some of those significant donors or boosters or owners of small companies around the area, and all of a sudden, the basketball kids could be their top guys.”

Here's the quote. Not sure how I feel about any of this, but change is coming.

Yes I think most of the BEAST schools would do very well. Most of the P5 endorsement budget would go to football.

Just imagine what St. John's could do with this. That's a guaranteed Vitamin Water endorsement opportunity just for signing on and then you're free to shop New York for whatever else you can get.

Hopefully that’s true. It’s probably helpful that all of us are located in fairly large cities as well. Lots of local businesses

Butler would be the least beneficial in the Big East. Too crowded of a market with Purdue and Indiana basketball/football, Notre Dame to an extent - especially in football.

No offense because it would help all Big East schools, but this would clearly help SJ the most especially considering our struggles recently. We are NYC the media and business capital of the entire country. We also have a very high profile alum named Mike Repole who was at least a co-founder of Vitamin Water and Body Armour. He already gets guys like Mike Trout, Kobe Bryant, etc. for endorsements. He's very passionate about the basketball program and goes to some games. He also called into a popular NY sports talk radio station to rant about how frustrating the program is. If he's willing to put his money where his mouth is, he could offer tens of thousands for some top notch recruits to be in these ads. I'd also hope this would lead to College Hoops 2k video games again.
