Seriously, I'm not sure a lot of UConn fans truly understand what kind of away game environments they're about to step into when it comes to Omaha, Indy and CIncinnati.

I'm making that statement while being fully aware of how fair weather and douchey UC fans can be at 5/3.

That clip is as much a tribute to Nova's program as anything. Just a very hard team to beat since the reformation.

Of course, it also demonstrates Fox's production value and what it means to have a game called by Raf and Gus.

The young ones won't but the middle aged ones remember playing at ND Cuse, Pitt and WVU before they disappeared. Nothing is like a sellout at Cuse with 30k + fans screaming.

No doubt. No one in their right mind is going to take the position that the NBE trumps the old BE in this regard.

My point, based on some early perceptions by some UConn fans that I read about making this move to the BE, is that they will be pleasantly surprised by the strength of the "new" programs when it comes to facilities and fan support. Otherwise, I'll take the Cintas Center over the Joyce Center and WVU's place any day. Pitt's Petersen Events Center is a little bigger, but it's at least a wash as far as that place is concerned -- in my unbiased opinion, obviously.

WVU Coliseum was 14k and was really difficult to win at. Joyce center was less so but at 9100 wasn't dramatically smaller than Cintas and same size as the Hinkle Fieldhouse

Not trying to open up a debate about who's places were better but only saying they aren't that far removed from the Big East when they were used to playing at very crowded and difficult places to win at.

No debate necessary. I know you weren't debating facilities, but I started thinking about that aspect of it and came to my biased opinion that swapping Joyce, Petersen and the Coliseum for the Cintas, Hinkle and CHI is not a step down at all.

I agree with you otherwise, except that I'm looking at it from the other angle: UConn's perceptions of what they may have lost versus what they're picking up with away game experiences. My focus was simply on letting them know that Xavier, Creighton and Butler will prove to be positive experiences for them to the extent they want conference away games in strong facilities having solid fan support. We know what UConn was used to in the old Big East. The point is that, while they won't be stepping back into a place with 30k screaming fans in the Carrier Dome, they won't exactly be heading into "new" places that have crappy facilities and a few thousand fans attending games.

p.s. Morgantown is a "special" place.
