The Zags are not a serious consideration. They are in Washington State. Not DC. Spokane.

ND is in the ACC. The ACC is just fine. ND will never return to the Big East. Sure, I'd take 'em, but it's NEVER happening.

Dayton is a fine school with a great following. It has a good fit in the A10, a good basketball conference. It is not a fit for the Big East at this point. It would take a serious realignment for some scenario of consideration. It's very unlikely.

The Big East is not expanding to add Dayton, VCU, or St Louis.

I think A10 is a better fit for Dayton than the AAC, but the point is moot as the AAC won't add Dayton. This thread is just a Dayton tease. Tease them out, and then criticize them for participating.

Next let's discuss Lebron to the Knicks, and tease the poor Knicks fans for what they won't get.

Why is there an 11 page thread on Dayton after we just added our 11th member UConn?

Nobody cares about this rivalry outside of Dayton (and to a lesser extent Xavier) fans. As we all know they have no shot at a Big East invite, and any AAC talk is just fan speculation. What am I missing here besides bickering between the two fan bases?

No offense to any Dayton fans wanting an invite, but you have to see that your school wouldn't improve our TV contract. 11 teams is the perfect number and this conference won't add teams simply to add teams. Dayton has no case whatsoever at the moment.

That said, Dayton is doing fine in the A10 and they don't need an invite to the Big East to be successful. Embrace being one of the best in that league knowing that you can make the Dance any given year. You made the E8 a few years ago while my team hasn't in 2 decades. Be proud of your affiliation rather than lobbying for something that has literally a 0% chance of happening under the current landscape.

Yeah, that sums it up perfectly. Hopefully it can be the death blow for this thread.....this thread sucks.

Notre Dame would be the only reason for any further expansion. They fit the conference template perfectly with location and tradition. I have a feeling powerful ACC football programs like F St and Clemson will eventually have enough of their “independent status”.....demand the Irish schedule 8 conference games like everybody else and share more of their massive football revenue. The Irish will fail to capitulate and hello BEast.

As far as having a football 1st school becoming a perceived flag ship, I see no reason that would detract from the Big East BBall image. In fact, I think most would agree it would only enhance it. They are, after all, the most famous Catholic university in the world.

ND is going to elevate whatever conference they are in due to what you mentioned. It would just seem worrisome to me that like the old BE alignment they’d always be one foot in and one foot out due to football. Maybe they stay for 20 years and it’s worth it. Maybe they jump ship at 2 years making BE look “bad”. Whatever bad may be

Assuming they were to join and then jump soon thereafter, some or a lot of that "bad" would be smoothed over by whatever large exit fee the BE would negotiate with them. They won't be able to dictate terms IF the ACC decides to boot them. They'll need a home for their other sports, and the BE would be a perfect fit for them.

Besides, jumping in 2 years would almost have to mean the B1G came calling in South Bend. I know they wanted them before, but don't know what their temperature is on that now. I would think that the B1G would react and go after them, assuming they want them, at the time the ACC divorce news surfaces.
