Well going by that the biggest loser is WSU, left a basketball conference and paid to join a conference with UCONN but ended up in a football-first directional school league. Ouch

Nah, Wichita (who, by the way, is functionally a directional) is just happy to be out of the MVC and into what's still a much better conference for basketball even if UConn isn't in it. The geography of the conference actually makes sense for the Western half as well. The AAC was Wichita's only viable lifeboat to a multi-bid conference and they secured it without having to undertake the financial burden of running a football program. Big win for them regardless.
