What happens to UCONN football now?

Would the MAC let them join as a football-only member? How would the big east take to that? The big east would lose their minds if UCONN is still able to get a P-5 invite in the next round of TV contracts.

If UConn is invited to a football conference (unlikely), then the Big East would be in the exact same situation as we were 2 days ago. We survived 6 years without UConn, so we'd be just fine if they left.

As for football, who knows... but I bet it will be shut down within 5 years.

Indy for the time being according to Katz. I think some people are overly hyped about the next round of realignment, because most likely things stand pat with maybe a football school getting poached from the aac. Maybe something happens with BYU. In the event of uconn getting invited to P5, no hard feelings. It's nothing like shady behind the back dealings done by pitt, bc, etc.

We'd have to start winning 10+ football games every year to even be considered by a P5. Even in our best Big East years, we were only winning about 8.

If Fox can help us get some home and homes with their P5 properties then I'd rather just ride out Independence for as long as that lasts.

In a weird way, UConn going independent almost makes them more appealing to the ACC... cuz the Big East Tourney is going to be more insane, and the ACC is now completely locked out of MSG... and the small-phallus ACC has a bitter jealous bug up their ass about all things Big East.

The ACC, if they had a brain in their head, could extend a basketball-only invitation to UConn, and keep their football indy. Gets ACC hoops to 16 teams, with two indy football teams. I guess Boston College is still blocking UConn.

Indy is the best way to go. You can control your TV contract for home games. Maybe there is an interest from FS1 or FS2 for UConn home games.

The P5 won't be adding any new teams unless ND decides to join a conference. If anything, the next round of P5 moves will be to pare down the power conferences and cut some dead weight. I think the Big 12 will be poached and some schools like TCU and Baylor will be left out altogether. Hell, I'd be worried as a KSU or ISU fan about being left out.

Who cares? We don't sponsor football so it's not our problem. As for if they leave in the future...I wouldn't lose sleep over it. This conference has already thrived without UConn. No doubt their inclusion makes us stronger, but we've been a top 3 basketball league without them and we'll be more than fine if they leave.

There certainly was a time when I was in the camp that was willing to add them, but only with a buyout that would essentially lock them up and throw away the key. However, that was when I was less secure about the prospects of our league as is. If they leave, we may get a little bad press but it'll blow over as soon as we get back to winning (so when basketball season starts up again).

Indy doesn't seem all that complicated. Army, BYU, UMass, BC, Liberty, NMSU, that's half your schedule right there. Throw in a few MAC teams and some other local games and you're done. Do we actually know that the AAC won't let them stay for football?

Admittedly I am not an expert on football scheduling, but would BYU agree to a H&H?
